Any Potential new DIII Programs and the future of the Northeast 10 DII teams?

Re: Any Potential new DIII Programs and the future of the Northeast 10 DII teams?

It's whole lot easier to move down than up. The fewer teams slicing up that DI basketball pot the better.

But these guys are doing it ... (though their Ice Hockey program already is DI).

These guys might too (but no ice hockey).
A move to D-One would cost the school about three to four million dollars a year. Any decision would rest with the school's Board of Regents

And how can you be 65 miles south of Rochester and Buffalo, considering Rochester and Buffalo are 60 miles apart in an east/west direction? Just a terrible article.

Russell, can I assume you didn't go to High School in New York state and take a regents class, where they always ask you to bisect and angle with straightedge and compass -or - draw a line equilateral from two points? We may be in debt, but we can bisect a line with the best of them!!!

From reliable sources...SUNY Canton will begin the paperwork next season to become a member of the ECAC West.[/QUOTE

With the NCAA cracking down on Potsdam for giving out scholarships. I am sure that the people at Canton would only look to apply to be in the West if the SUNYAC did not take them as associate members. From my understanding the last thing I heard from someone about Canton was that they didn't even apply for membership into the NCAA yet but for some reason the athletic program was going to join the USCAA this year. There is no way Canton could compete in the west unless the NCAA stopped the giving of scholarships that are going on at those private schools.

Coach, first Potsdam was not giving out "scholarships". Secondly, I only gave what information I heard. Its not as if I run around, spreading unfounded rumors. I posted what I heard.

equidistant, not equilateral. I may be from New Jersey, but I can bisect with the best of them!

Re: Canton

Lax? Not every sport has every team.

IIRC, with Hamilton leaving the Liberty League, the lax conference dropped to 6 active members. RIT brings it back to 7.

You didn't say LAX. You generalized the whole conference. And you were talking about the Empire 8, not the Liberty League.

The article said SOUTH. SouthEAST is not South. SouthWEST is not South. I would hate to take directions from you.

The article is wrong! And it did not mention any freaking triangles, nor quote a retired Norwich math professor to try and falsely explain away it's inaccuracies. End of conversation.

P.S. I got a 97 on my geometry regents and a 98 on my algebra regents exams. Still remember the question/mistake I got wrong on each of them.

Alas, SOUTHeast and SOUTHwest are SOUTH. :p

Re: Any Potential new DIII Programs and the future of the Northeast 10 DII teams?

Southeast and Southwest are NOT South, at best they are Southerly. South is 180 degrees, Southeast is 135 degrees and Southwest is 225 degrees...I hope this ends this portion of the discussion. :D

Re: Any Potential new DIII Programs and the future of the Northeast 10 DII teams?

Remind me never to take directions from you....

I think they were speaking in general terms, for a location to be 65 miles due south of two distinct locations can mean only one thing...(We all agree that Rochester and Buffalo are not the same location)

I will leave it as quiz for you to figure out how that can happen :)

So do you go North - East or West to go in a "southerly" direction? Southeast and Southwest are south, not "due south", but south nevertheless.

At the North Pole (not the one in NYS), every direction is South.

Well, that depends if you're talking about grid North, True North, or Magnetic North.........boy is this going to be a l-o-n-g summer.

Or up and down (though down might be difficult until the global warming kicks it up a notch). :p ;) :D
