Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Dono recalled by Isles. Don't know if he is in tonight's line-up against Blackhawks

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

I'm a pro at going to games at the last minute and getting great seats. I usually purchase from fans with xtras (or they give them to me). Just curious, are there scalpers outside of Magness before games?

I admire that, I really do. I'm the kind of guy who hires a guide and plans for a couple of weeks to make a beer run to 7/11. Years ago a good buddy of mine decided on Thursday of Super Bowl week he wanted to go to the game. He and another dude got airline tickets, a rental car (off model, but who cares), first class hotel rooms and tickets! They wound up parking in the media lot. This was the first Super Bowl played in the Rose Bowl. IIRC, they paid some jacked up prices along the way, but they got to see the game. Thinking about that stresses me out to this very day. I'd leave it up to the DU fans in Denver, but I doubt you'll have any problem.

PO? It's about time this thread took a literary bent and it's a pleassure to see you referencing Edgar Allen [the] PO. Oh, that Eddie he was a barrel o'laffs.

Ah, broken is the golden bowl! the spirit flown forever!
Let the bell toll!- a saintly soul floats on the Stygian river;

"I give it a 95. I liked the beat and you can dance to it."

I'm more of a GASbag:

Hail, Poetry, thou heav'n-born maid!
Thou gildest e'en the pirate's trade.
Hail, flowing fount of sentiment!
All hail, all hail, divine emollient!

Eric Burton, commonly known as Goon and a devoted fan of the team formerly known as the Fighting Sioux, takes on an article in College Hockey News that is pretty negative about the formation of the NCHC. Goon rightly points out that a number of schools were unhappy with the way the WCHA was being run prior to Penn State adding hockey and the formation of the B1G. Conferences have been far from static. The USCHO time line shows this.
The seeds of separation were planted before the B1g was born. Perhaps the "like minded" line was not the best approach, but changes were coming and each university had to make a decision--a business decision--what was best for it's program. And DU was entitled to make that decision.

Yes, I loved the old WCHA, the premier college hockey league. But today we are in the NCHC, a new league establishing its own reputation. But it doesn't change the Bottom Line, I want to see DU playing in the Frozen Four for a National Championship.
Entitled--you betcha!:D

It was, of course, self evident that you have always been a GasBag, but nice of you anyway to confirm the obvious. Continuing on the subject of being a GasBag, my people inform me that Jay Stinky is rested, tanned, liquored up and ready to call OFFSIDES at the drop of a hat when the Denvers meet the Browns on Friday evening. Enjoy the online fun and frivolity while others of us are in Magness. :D

Enjoy yourself tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you while we're counting clichés.

Hail Poetry is one of Arthur Sullivan's little gems. And the GAS Society in Houston is generally recognized as the nation's best. While ostensibly "amateur," the musicians play in the Houston Symphony and the chorus members perform with Houston Grand Opera. For 25 years now Alistair Donkin has performed the patter songs (he was the last to do it for D'Oyly Carte) and directed. It would be rather like a community playhouse putting on Streetcar Named Desire with Brando playing Stanley and directing. You'd get a production several orders of magnitude greater. And that has been Alistair's cumulative contribution. They were d*mn good before he arrived on the scene in the '80s. Now they're the best.

Yep, hockey weather here, too. Sixty-four, not a cloud in the sky. One to three inches of snow expected this weekend. It's Denver in winter: sixties one day, snow the next.

USA vs Russia
Quentin Shore was the only one of Team USA’s regular centers that finished on the plus side in the faceoff circle. He won seven of nine draws.
Will Butcher — I really liked the way Butcher was moving the puck throughout the tournament and again today. On the power play, he was very good as a quarterback. He had to make things happen on the back end and did with patience. Butcher was also good in his own end, which made for less work for Steven Santini defensively. The good news for USA Hockey is Butcher is back next year.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Hey, it's not that Denver had three one-goal leads, allowed Brown to tie the score three times and then lost a shootout. Oh wait, that's exactly it.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Monty used the R word--Regressed. That's what I was thinking. Came out looking sharp and kept falling back the rest of the game. Little flurries every now and then. Bad penalties. Sam played a good game, but he can't save every shot.

Gotta be better next weekend.
