Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

That happened 8 years ago! As part of his gubernatorial campaign in 2010, Hickenlooper ceded control of Wynkoop Holdings to his partners, thus eliminating potential conflicts of interest. Wynkoop still thrives, and is constantly accruing new restaurant properties. Whether Hickenlooper has any say in any of its dealings is anybody's guess.

So anybody know what's up with the new DU logo? Not the hockey team, but the university. When did that happen? It's a shield now, not the old box with the "D" inside. Is that some rush re-branding for the presidential debate??

Do we have a visual??

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Pretty sure it would've taken less time to google it than to ask that question. And it would take significantly more for me to download, host, and link. http://www.du.edu/

Or better yet, go to this link - http://www.du.edu/marcomm/brandguidelines/logo/

The university's description of their logo doesn't match the logo they are using. Makes me think this is brand new and they're transitioning. Just curious...

I think the shield look cheesy. I get what they're going for, but it look more Regis than Harvard if you ask me. Anyways, back to hockey...

Senior gymnast Simona Castro (Santiago, Chile), former DU gymnast Jessica Lopéz (Caracas, Venezuela) and former swimmer Blake Worsley Canada(Steamboat Springs, Colo.) will compete for three different countries at the London Summer Olympics.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

D*mn! Nobody told me about this place or I would have gone. In my DU days, we had lots of steaks at Mr. G's (usually on Mondays before chapter meetings), roast prime rib in the back room at Andy's Smorgasbord and the occasional high dollar meal at Trader Vic's.

I also miss the coffee shop at Writer's Manor, the only place I've ever encountered that had fried corn meal mush on the menu. With butter and maple syrup, yum.

I lived off campus for 3 years and never cooked a meal. We used to eat at bar (Evans to Bway, left turn, 2 blocks up) Hamburger and coke for $1.00 Steak House on south side of Evans, 5 blocks away. Jo, a waitress friend of ours gave us deeply discounted meals and we left her $20 tips. Sunday night was the Yum Yum Tree.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

DU's 2012-2013 Roster is up. Twenty-three players including Zach Hope.

Freshmen:
#6 Dakota Mermis
#8 Nolan Zajac
#17 Garrett Allen
#27 Quentin Shore

BTW, #27 was last worn by Dan Olszewski who is NOT on the roster.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Morrison wa the best I ever saw in college hockey.

Jimbo and I agree with you. 70 goals in two (shorter) seasons is insane. As I've only mentioned 20 or 30 times, George was the first DU player to come out early. And it was Craig Patrick's dad, Lynne, who signed him. SI referred to him as "rubber man," because of his incredible moves in the crease. Ken Dryden would agree, since George buried one between his legs in the '69 NC game.

A great honor for George. I only wish he could be there for the ceremony.

Grant Arnold and Gabe Levin haven't been posted to the roster yet. I think what is up is still a work in progress.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Gabe Levin gets #9, another Californian

Grant Arnold gets #39

Roster is now at 25 with 4 goalies and 21 skaters, 8 d-men and 13 forwards

#9 seems to belong to California :)

Think one of the Dmen will have to be a "utility" forward, just in case...

DU Pro Camp next month--dates or who will be there???

The 3rd annual Pioneer Pro Camp is scheduled for August 20-24. Daily sessions will begin at 10:15am. Already more than a dozen of our former players have committed to attend. Don't have any names yet.

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Today is July 28, 2012.
There are 70 days (10 weeks) until DU's next game.

Exhibition game October 6, 2012

Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Kinda interesting how similar DU's new logo is to the one NBC's using for the Olympics. Years ago, NBC unveiled a new network logo only to discover that it was a duplicate of the one used by Nebraska public TV. Oops.
