All Things Denver XXXI

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

First of all, all DU fans should read the Denver Post series by Mike Chambers and Terry Frei.

Back to the weekend.
Friday was a very good night, Saturday not so much!
Murray had a goal leading error in each game. But he did make 50 saves. More importantly he got himself back together after the 3 goal barrage. He wouldn't/couldn't have done that last year.
The defense looked great Friday, but Saturday couldn't say the same.
In the 3rd period Friday BC seemed to have the best of the game. In the 3rd period Saturday DU finally woke up and played with focus and intensity. Gwoz said he had talked to some of the players about playing and practicing consistently. That was before Friday's game. Wondered what he said between the 2nd and 3rd Saturday:eek:
Joey LaLeggia is a player! Lee and LeLeggia are a good pair. Good to see Lee get a goal.
What happened to the Power Play?

For the future--When will we see Knowlton or Tabrum on the ice?

I know which one you're referring to. Honestly didn't see that one, but if it was the exact same, then I don't like that call either. They were most certainly arguing the actual call though, not just the timing.

Well of course they're going to be arguing the call, it effectively ends the game. I probably would too in their shoes, strictly out of passion and emotion unless it was so blatantly obvious, along the lines of the DU guy hip checking Chiasson as he went by. I also don't get the home cooking insinuations. This was the only penalty of the third period called against DU after three in a row called previously on BU, so you could certainly argue the, albeit stupid, "BU was due for one" claim. Both teams ended up with the same number of PIM as well.

You don't see a team/coaches react unanimously like DU did if the penalty wasn't at the very least questionable.

Of course they were going to be upset. Emotions were high, Denver was trying to come back from a 4 goal deficit and had BU by the throat and was going in for the kill. The penalty sealed the deal for BU. I sure you were rooting for them to tie the game. However, a reaction from the opposing team's bench in an emotionally charged moment doesn't make a call immmediately "questionable." It was a clear penalty IMO. Of course I have a bias as you do and as the DU bench does.

They didn't just argue because it effectively ended the game--not the only reason. They thought it was a bad call. You guys thought it was a penalty--that's fine. Don't take the home cooking thing up with me...it was a DU poster who said Gwozdecky referred to it. Might have been in the BU thread, but someone said the exact penalty was called on BU earlier in the game. Didn't see that one as I don't think they showed a replay, but I've been consistent in saying if it was the exact same play, I don't think it was a penalty. Finally, the fact there's disagreement shows it wasn't a "clear" penalty. The disagreement leads to the call being questionable.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Is the game against the Purple Cows televised? I will be making a rare trip to Minnesota this weekend, unfortunately not hockey related. However, I wonder if it will be on TV there? I will be in International Falls.

All this talk about injured Mavs makes me a little nervous. This has all the making of a Cinderella story!!!
I just hope our guys don't get too cocky or over confident!!
