Re: All Things Denver XXXI

You make some good points, but you obviously don't know Swami because you have not described him at all. He wasn't a loudmouth complainer. He didn't tell us about his vast knowledge of the game, he just used his vast knowledge to give you his thoughts and let you work out for yourself taht the knowledge was there. The only times I remember Swami clashing with anyone much was when people who like to talk about their own vast knowledge of the game got into it with him.

What he did is give his thoughts on every game, including which players had made an impression. On balance, he was a really positive guy. His assessment of coming matchups as well as recent games were rally interesting and (I thought) pretty insightful. For myself, I love DU hockey, but I don't know a whole lot about the game. A lot of what I do know I learned from reading Swami, Jimbo, Chris and some other guys on the board who talk about the game itself. So like anyone else who gives their honest thoughts (including you) sometimes the things they say are not too positive. But like I said, on balance, he was a positive guy and there was never any question as to his loyalty.

In any case, my advice to you right now (which I'm sure you don't want) let it go. You have made it known that you don't want to read the opinions of a loudmouth know-it-all who is just negative. We get it. You are starting to be that guy, though, and if Puck Swami does go back to posting you will learn first hand that he isn't that guy.

Excellent post. Duper 1 BBM 0.

You guys are wasting your breath trying to reason with a troll, whose only purpose on USCHO and LetsgoDu is to be a dick. But whatever, carry on.

Three Shores on the ice on Friday. Very cool. Nice article by Chambers in the post. Go DU hockey and DU soccer on Friday night!

DU defense ranked #1 and Offense #2 in WCHA.

Thanks for the link, Vizoroo. Nice blurb in there about DU's defense:

1. Denver- The Pioneers lost a great defenseman in Matt Donovan to the pros, return a nice offensive defenseman in David Makowski and add two amazing skaters in Scott Mayfield and Joey Laleggia. Those players should be able to partner with solid, responsible defensive defensemen like John Lee, John Ryder, and Paul Phillips to form a pretty dominating unit.

Interesting. I couldn't disagree more with the defense rankings. Minnesota will have a top half defense, Denver does not have the top defense, and to say North Dakota has a lack of depth (they have 8 blueliners that would start for basically any other team in the country) is a joke. As for the offense? Denver is clearly the top squad, and Nebraska-Omaha as #1? North Dakota has no business being third, perhaps a 5th or 6th ranking is more appropriate, and Minnesota Duluth has a top 3 or 4 offense in the league.

I have read a lot of things in my day....but that was AWESOME. I was doing my best to stay out of a ******ing match with BBM and Duper...you hit him with a right cross. Well done!!!

BBM...get to posting with some sense of reason and thought...not mindless jibberish.

I was surprised WCHblog didn't have DU ranked first in offense. The defense should be good, but we are looking at having 3 rookies on the ice and expecting a lot from Mayfield, LaLeggia and Didier.

I would have to agree. Denver is stacked as far as scoring is concerned. UNO can pack a punch...as we saw first hand last season, but didn't the Mavs just lose their top 3 scorers from last season?

I give Denver the edge here.

Defensively I agree with FS23. I don't know if the Goofers will be tops in defense. I see Minnesota under-achieving this season...as per usual.

I still have my worries with Denver being a bit young...a lot of freshmen to get into the fray. Having Lee and Ryder there to shore things up is a huge plus...still worried though. Also the big question-mark in goal too. Murray MUST prove that he can start every game.

I agree, it will be a HUGE plus to have the senior veterans Lee & Ryder anchoring the D. With them, I expect DU to be in the top 5 nationally. Without them, maybe top 12-15. They will be critical to our success, especially while Murray adjusts to being "the man." Mayfield, LaLeggia & Didier will be good, but probably not until January or February.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

So, totally off topic. I noticed parking has gone up from 6 to 7 dollars. Does anyone know if beer at the stadium has gone up? Just need to know how much money I need to bring. Thanks

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

I know this may sound crazy, but I didn't buy beer at the game, so I can't help you.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

DU gets a commitment from Grant Arnold of Centennial, CO. He is currently playing for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. He is a 6' 2" 215 lb forward. He is one of the co-captains of this year's Gambler's team. He will be coming to DU in 2012.

Tough kid. You can't ever have too many tough kids.

Big kid too. Hope he has some other attributes though. I want to see how he handles himself with the puck and when he is put under pressure.
