Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Highly doubtful the Red Sox will be in the AL Championship :D Go Yanks!!! :)

Hey, now, it's been a rough couple weeks for the Sox but The Nation will pull through. Go Sawx!!! :)

With all those beat downs the Red Sox handed the yanks this year, and especially cc sabathia, I can't blame ya for your wishful thinking... ;)

http://coyotes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=588509&navid=DL|PHX|homeMarc Cheverie had a good start with the Phoenix Coyotes Rookies. Saved 9 of 10 in relief. 2nd game against Kings to be streamed on the Coyote website this afternoon.

btw, how do you feel about the all-wcha team he picked?;)
No Jason Zucker or Drew Shore--Shocked! No offense to "runnin with the dogs" fave Jacky Connolly, but he will be without linemates, Fontaine and M Connolly, could make it a more difficult year for him. The shocker is Corban Knight:confused:

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Chevy played in the 3rd period again today in the Coyote rookie game. Unfortunately he let a goal in when Phoenix was 2 men short. That pest from North Dakota, Brett Hextall, scored 3 goals in the 2 game series against his dad's team, the LA Kings.:p

And to answer the question in the Magness video,
YES, I'm ready for some hockey!

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Rhett Rakhshani did not participate in this morning's off-ice physicals and conditioning tests. Matt Donovan is one of 14 d-men in Isles camp and Rhett is one of 30 forwards in the camp.

I would assume we should be hearing about DU's TV schedule with the Root Network soon.

John Grahame, son of DU great Ron, has retired from hockey and is the new goaltending coach at Sioux City in the USHL. John won a Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay. John's name is on the Cup as well as his mother, Charlotte, who is the Vice President of Hockey Administration for the Avalanche.

More WCHA Pre-Season Prognostications

Still, Denver returns a ton of talent. Jason Zucker is a potential WCHA player of the year, the Shore brothers are fantastic, and Beau Bennett is a Sophomore breakout candidate for me, even though the 1st round pick struggled in his Freshman campaign.

Furthermore, Denver has an incredibly strong recruiting class, led by 2011 2nd rounder Scott Mayfield. If Murray is even average between the pipes I think Denver has what it takes to win the MacNaughton Cup.

Re: All Things Denver XXXI

Greetings Everyone. There is a touch of fall in the air and the season is not far from getting started. I've been over at Magness twice in the last couple of weeks. I saw about 30 minutes of a captains practice on Labor Day and then about an hour and half of a full practice yesterday. Gwoz was all business and working the boys hard. Zucker has defiantly bulked up--looks to have gained about 10-12 pounds. Murray looks sharper for sure and seems confident as well. The freshman class looks great. There is blond haired forward (Freshman don't have numbers on their helmets yet) who is a hell of a puck handler. It was really interesting to watch them work. Their in good shape and it looks like Gwoz is going to have them ready for BU/BC. Drop in there if you can, they practice from 3-5. I'm not sure how much longer they keep it open to the public.

Word has it that Ty Loney is the "sleeper" of the recruiting class. If true that may be our mystery puck handler because he is blond...

Forward Ty Loney (6'3 185 lbs) committed University of Denver this coming Fall. At Denver, Loney will play alongside USHL teammate and New York Islanders draft pick, Scott Mayfield.

Ty was born into a championship family, his father Troy was a member of two Stanley Cup winning teams in Pittsburgh the early '90s. Hockey was a part of his life right from the very start, and the championship vibes certainly influenced Ty at an early age.

Loney played seventeen games and recorded two goals and two assists (4pts) during the 2009-10 season, his first with the Phantoms. This past year, Loney tallied 23 goals and 19 assists (42pts) in 54 games during his final season wearing the purple and orange.

Loney is described as a two-way forward; more skilled on the offensive side of the puck and ever-improving in his own end. To top it off, Loney was not afraid to drop the mitts in the USHL when the situation called for it.
