Re: All Things Denver XXX

Aren't you a bit surprised there was NO outreach from NoDak to Jesse after the injury?(except for Corban Knight)
Was that a coach/team decision?

This is exactly what I said after I read the original Denver Post article on Malone. Due respect to Brian, FS 23, etc., but unfortunately this is just more evidence of what a low class program North Dakota has sunk to under Hakstol. The interview with Frattin on the selection show didn't help my perception, either. But it makes me proud to be a Pioneer--Gwoz can win hockey games AND keep articulate and thoughtful students on the team at the same time. What a concept.

Hockey tomorrow! I've been trained to be nervous about these first round games. Even in 05 we barely squeaked by Bemidji in the first round. Go Seth, GO DU!

Do you feel the same way about how the Bina incident was handled?

By Patrick C. Miller • USCHO Arena Reporter • Wednesday said:
Gwozdecky has called Bina to find out how he’s doing and wish him well. He said he hadn’t heard from Paukovich. During the NCAA Northeast region playoffs, the Pioneers wore Bina’s number 28 on their helmets.

I'm impressed DU wore Bina's number on their helmets, it's a classy move. However, Bina was injured on Friday March 18 and this article citing Gwoz' was published on the 30th. I don't believe Gwoz called on the 30th but how long till he did call? Is it relevant? I respect Martin's feelings, he is a warrior for being alive and for the character he has shown in the wake of this incident. Calling UND a program with low class is a strange accusation/rock to throw in a glass house. Is their a certain script to follow after injuring someone and does that script change if it's a clean hit(a UND player was involved in the paralysis of Travis Roy of BU, I believe it was Mitch Vig even though it was Roy trying to hit Vig) vs a hit from behind? Malone claims to have called Jesse Martin on or about Oct 31, Jesse and his family claim they did not receive a voicemail or text during that time frame but that doesn't mean they didn't miss his call, inflammatory reporting.

Jeff Paukovich waited till 2008-2009 to apologize for the hit from behind he delivered in 2005.

Wranglers' Paukovich finally at peace said:
The two cleared the air a couple of years ago when they were in Edmonton's training camp together, and they also were teammates in Springfield during the 2008-09 season.

"The biggest thing for me was when Robbie and I played together, one of the things we both got was closure," Paukovich said. "It's a true credit to him. He actually came up to me and was basically like, 'Hey, things happen. It's not going to be an issue.'

"Obviously, I apologized -- as much as I could at that point. We talked probably five minutes about it, and that was it. Ever since then, any talk we've had has been as teammates and friends."

Maybe Malone is waiting 3 years to meet Martin again so he can be uphold the standards of a "classy" program.

Wow! CC just rips BC a new one. The boys on Comm Ave are feeling it tonight. Should be an interesting game tomorrow against the Big Blue. Looks like CC might be headed to MSP. Sorry to see the Cadets go down today. They played Yale tough. I think UMD rolls tomorrow.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Schwartz, Schwartz and Schultz certainly put a beating on Jerry York's boys last night. The way the game started with BC scoring 19 seconds in, you thought it would have gone the other way. I hope Jaden stays in St. Louis for next season :D:p;)

After that quick BC goal, took a dinner break and the SSS made it 4-1 before I got back. Maybe the Blues will sign him while he's there.

That was a perfect example of BOHICA.

This just in: CC scores yet another goal on BC. :D

Re: All Things Denver XXX

I'm feeling optimistic here. The screen banner says: "upcoming, Denver vs. Western Michigan." Unless they're lying. . . . . .

Dish Network picked up the Altitude 2 feed on a sports alternate channel, but I have sometimes had things on those channels blacked out for undiscernible reasons. Fortunately, this game was not. I'll say this, I hope DU plays a better 60 minutes tomorrow than they did tonight. But the game was fun and the end was fun as hell.

I have high hopes for tomorrow.

Wow that was an amazing game. Hats off to wmu. Zucker and donovan were great, as were salazar and brittain. And it seemed like ryder was out there every minute. Anything else will be gravy, but I think we can advance if we have enough legs left. Go DU!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Based on how they played against RPI and how they've been playing down the stretch, you'd have to put on the green eyeshade and say DU doesn't have a chance tomorrow. Especially after a two OT win against WMU. But. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Denver matches up very well with North Dakota. If Brittain plays the way he did last weekend and the way he did today, it will be very difficult for North Dakota to advance.

It has been amazing to watch Denver come back from the brink time after time this season. Typically younger teams don't do that, but you have some very special players on your squad. I hope for a good game, with a Sioux victory, but would definitely not be surprised by anything. Good luck to both teams tomorrow and hopefully it is a great game.

DU played 60 strong minutes. It was the first 40 minutes that was problematic.

Great win for the players and coaches. Players just never give up.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

DU is 4-1 all time against UND in the NCAAs. An interesting tidbit of information.
