Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII
Great sign of support.
Thanks!

I have been in touch with the CC athletic deparment this week, and as of today, it has been confirmed that after the DU lineup is introduced Saturday night at World Arena, there will be a short statement read about Jesse before they proceed with the introduction of the CC players. I was told that CC did not want to do anything too drawn out because of the emotional toll it could take on DU before the game, and that they wanted to make sure DU was okay with whatever they did. The DU staff has seen the statement and it has been approved and well received. So EVERYONE be in or at your seats before the lineups are introduced. All of the CC and DU fans at this game need to come together and applaud Jesse because some things are far bigger than a hockey rivalry.
Great support and class from our traditional rivals.

The Pioneers came into Friday expecting Martin to be recovering from surgery in a Minneapolis hospital to stabilize his neck. However, Martin on Friday was instead transferred to a hospital in nearby St. Paul, Minn., and surgery was postponed until Monday, and another surgical team has been assembled.
I've seen a lot of DU teams come and go, but this team has one of the very best work ethics I've seen in a long time. They may not have jaw-dropping talent, and they sure don't have a great deal of depth, but they really work their butts off out there, and what good results they've been able to post to date are based on that work rate.
Even with all the emotion in the barn last night, the Pioneers were able to channel it and got the result they deserved.
Should be interesting to see what this quick, hard working team can do on a big ice sheet. At UVM, DU did well on the 200 x 90 sheet there, but all the other games were played on NHL (200 x 85) sheets, and CSWA is a 200 x 100 sheet.
Really hard work can compensate for a lot of shortcomings. BTW, the early line is that Jay will mention the "big ice" 36 times tonight.
He has let us down this year. I'll take the under :-}
DU women's soccer lost on penalty kicks to Middle Tennessee in the Sun Belt Championship Game. As a result, they don't get the NCAA Sun Belt autobid and their season could be over, even though they were 19-3 on the year. Tough way to lose.
On the positive side though, the Rapids won in Penalty Kicks over Columbus. They'll host San Jose next Saturday at Dick's for the Eastern (yes, Eastern) Conference Final.
As for the game tonight, I've been really impressed with Zucker so far, and I think he puts one in the nets to take down CC. I thought Denver would be a 4-6 place team in the WCHA this year, but I really think if they can continue to get impressive goalie play they can challenge for a top 2 spot.
