Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Interesting statistical tidbits through 7 games:

- Anthony Miani still has yet to score a goal
- Luke Salazar has three goals on six total shots
- David Makowski, a rookie, leads the team in plus/minus with +4
- Paul Philips has the worst plus/minus on the team at -5
- Matt Donovan has yet to post an assist this year (he has 3 goals)
- The top two scorers on DU are both underclassmen (Soph. Drew Shore 6p and Frosh Jason Zucker 5p)
- DU has three upperclassmen at -4 (Nutini, Martin, Salazar)
-Beau Bennet has 16 shots, Makowski 14 shots and Maiani has 14 shots - none of them have scored yet
- DU is being outscored by 4 in the first period and by four in the second period, but is outscoring opponents by four in the third period

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Boy I don't know Swami, I saw the 3rd period and thought the Pios looked great. There were many close calls and with a little puck luck, we could have won that game! That Zucker is the best looking forward I've seen wearing a Pioneer uiform in a long time. he's the real deal!!!

DU was great in the third because UND was already up two goals for most of it and DU was clawing back.

DU was wretched in the second where they were outshot 11-1.

Zucker, Drew Shore and Brittain are the bright spots on a rebuilding (and banged up) DU team.

The injuries concern me the most. We don't have much margin for error, IMO.

Obviously you had no time to access the Avs-CBJ game (Did anyone?):)
Stastny with a goal and an assist +2.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Just wanted to stop by this thread and give my best to Jesse Martin. On behalf of the fan base of your arch rival, thoughts are with him, his family, his friends, and all of DU. Not much else can be said...:(

Worst Possible News

Mike Chambers reports Jesse Martin in Minneapolis for emergency surgery with 3 fractures in his neck.

Thoughts and prayers for Jesse, his family and the DU hockey community

G*o*d d*a*m*n it! Please, God, let Jesse fully recover from this injury and have no deficits going forward. I had a bad feeling about this one, notwithstanding the initial optimistic assessments.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Pure tragedy, Martin seems like a great player and person. Best wishes and speedy recovery.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

I understand that he has some feeling, but accompanied with a lot of pain. That's good, right? That means he won't be paralyzed, right?

Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

My thoughts and hopes are with you Jesse and your family. I really need this month to end...

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

I received a text message from Chambers at 3 PM MST stating that he had been in contact with Jesse's family. Chambers Blog and tomorrow's Post will have updates. Horrible situation for Martin, his family and teammates and coaches.

"Jesse Martin still has not walked and has some numbness in his core. He may not need surgery, but things can change in cases like this hour to hour. Martin may need to wear a Halo Brace for three to six months."

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Get well Jesse........We are all pulling for you.

Hang in there, kid. Get well soon. Jeez, a halo brace, didn't Dr. Mengele invent those things? Hope it's not needed.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Best of luck for a speedy recovery for Jesse. So horrible to have these things happen... :(
