Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

Greetings my fellow Pioneer fan. My hiatus is just about over! Things have been busy and strange this year, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm hoping to resume attending the home Pioneer games beginning with the game the evening of November 13. In the mean time, go Pioneers! :)

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

I tried to get hold of you this summer when I was out in Denver. I met up with Bagman and Woody at the Campus Lounge back in July. Saw Wiste and Cammy also.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

This is fascinating: Swami with some glowing words of optimism, and DG with the doom & gloom. What's going on???

I'm especially psyched to see how Ryder develops this year. He had a knack for leveling people without taking a trip to the penalty box last year. I hope he keeps up that trend this year, though his 3 penalties last Saturday don't bode well in that department.
I hung out with Swami all weekend in Vermont. Obviously some sort of transference took place.

Keeping with the theme: Ryder was another player who looked sloppy with the puck last weekend, but no doubt, his hitting is a joy to watch. He had some massive hits against Vermont.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

I learned a lot from The Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Porter, K. C. B. who dispensed some interesting career advice in Act I:

"Now landsmen all, whoever you may be,
If you want to rise to the top of the tree,
If your soul isn't fettered to an office stool,
Be careful to be guided by this golden rule —
Stick close to your desks and never go to sea,
And you all may be rulers of the Queen's Navy!"

"And when the breezes blow,
I generally go below,
And seek the seclusion that a cabin grants"

From DU Game Notes

OUT OF ACTION
Senior forward Dustin Jackson (moneucleosis) is out this weekend, while Nick Shore (wrist) and William Wrenn (hamstring) are questionable. Jackson and Wrenn missed last weekend’s series at Vermont. Shore played the season opener against the Catamounts on Oct. 8, but didn’t play on Oct. 9.

Goalie Adam Murray talked about his new mask in this video that Mike Chambers had in his blog in the Denver Post.

INCH calls DU's recruiting

No doubt its DU's best recruiting class ever. Congrats to the coaches and players that made it happen.

Its been a long climb up the recruiting rankings.

2000 was a breakout year for recruiting (James, Caldwell, Berkhoel, Dora, Keith, Laatsch, Bull and others)

2003 landing Matt Carle was a significant milestone.

2004 was DU's best class in recent times Thomas, Stastny, May, Mannino, Paukovich & Dingle

2007 Landing Bozak who in no time became the best player in college hockey

2008 Landing Colborne & Wiercioch and keeping them away from Major Junior teams that were hot on the trail.

Re: All Things Denver, XXVIII

In case you missed it, Matt(hew) Glasser is living the dream along with Kevin Ulanski, playing in the CHL in Loveland:

In other DU hockey alumni news, Gabe Gauthier and Mark Rycroft will be in the radio booth this weekend as color men along with play by play man with Jay Stickney. Rycroft will do color for most home games this year. Not sure of Gauthier is a one-shot deal or not.
