Re: All Things Denver XXIX

What a bummer. Captain Kyle Ostrow underwent a complicated "sports herinia-like" surgery today in Minnesota. Obviously out of the games this weekend. Initial prognosis is he will be out 3-4 weeks.

Get Well Kyle!
Heal Quickly!

Think Gwoz or Jay said he was already out of the hospital. :)

I know Gwoz will deploy the "Cone of Silence" on Kyle's injury, but I'm still wondering what the circumstances were. Was he hurt today? Or was the injury a delayed call? Either way, it's not good. Hope he recovers ahead of schedule, we're gonna need him.

I love those two geniuses calling the game on FSN. After the Minn goal "the Gophers play better with a lead," well, not always. Then, after Shore scores to tie it, "This goal should be waived off." Batting a thousand, clowns.

I bet Jay Z gets the next goal :D:):p;)

How's your ice holding up? We are finally starting to get some melting going on. You better get your order in soon if you are running low.

I'm okay for the time being. Really need it in July and August.

I was a little late joining the scoring thread tonight. I was watching my "Great John Mariucci Between Periods Inspirational Speeches" CD. . .and fell asleep.

Re: All Things Denver XXIX

For you Old Pio and du78, I talked to my dad through much of the game tonight. Do either of you remember an outdoor rink near the "Airplane Park" here in Denver? The Airplane Park's real name is Progress Park right off of Belleview between Broadway and Santa Fe. When my dad was coaching Cherry Creek High School, he had his team practice there. It was an outdoor rink, that actually had cooling elements below it to keep the ice. I don't remember it, but since you two fossils precede my time on earth, maybe you have heard of it. Other practices my dad coached were at the Alpine rink. Alpine was located at Hampden and I-25 and I remember that. In fact, the only time I remember my dad getting ****ed of to violence was there. I went to a "Dad and Lad" shoot around when I was a young lad and when I went to get the pucks out of the net, some other dad took a slap shot that hit me square in the ***. My dad, a current hockey coach and former defenseman, gave the the guy the business and threatened to kick the guy's ***. The man stood up to my dad until dad brought him to the boards in a less than pleasant fashion. Next thing I knew was the man apologizing to me and giving me his wooden stick. LOL. My dad kicks *** even to this day!

That's not too surprising to me as the Landcows seem to match up with CC very well (as they do to us year in and year out). I don't really care who rocks this series, but I'm never sad to see CC lose. LOL :)

Re: All Things Denver XXIX

Sam Brittain played really, really well tonight - 1 goal on 37 shots! DU missed some breakaways, but Zucker with a big third period marker that turned out to be the dagger in front of his future Wild fans.

Hope Ostrow gets well soon.

And nice to see Boone at Mariucci....

Great story, but I don't recall the rinks. I spent a lot of free time at the Silver Spruce, and that's about all I remember.

As to fossils, remember the line Bert Mustin had in "Butch Cassidy?" "You remember me, I'm old. . . . . . . . . . ."

Don't remember either of those. I remember South Suburban at Arapahoe and University and we used play in some rink to the west along Evans well beyond Broadway. Don't remember the name of that rink.

They've done a nice job of finding DU supporters and showing 'em in the reaction shots. And Boone's just icing on the cake.

LOL. I just need to call someone a fossil as I get older. Point taken! Cook some of the **** on my food blog to shorten you life. LOL. Maybe I should post a couple of recipes from my 8 years in Phoenix! :)
