Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

In case anyone cares, Old Pio posthumously "won" the 2015 Poser of the Year contest. RIP Old Pio, we will miss you. :(
I know Old Pio would have been honored to accept the 2015 Poser of the Year. After his first award he proudly signed his posts, "2011 Poser of the Year & Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner." Two time Poser of the Year (2011 and 2015), Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner & Crown Royal Ambassador Emeritus."

I can only imagine his delight at the flood in the hockey locker room that washed away the "squashed jelly donut" rug, his elation at the Pioneers returning to the Frozen Four, but frightening to think of his take on Presidential Politics.

Man we lost a lot of good players to graduation and the pros. Are there some incoming Freshmen we can get excited about? And who replace Heinan on the RIM line? Troy Terry maybe?

Chris Butler is on St. Louis Blues roster but hasn't played a playoff game yet.

Scott Mayfield was called up May 1st with 5 other Sound Tigers by the Isles after the Bridgeport season ended.

Update--SHORE FOUR

In April Baker Shore played 3 games for the Chicago Steel of the USHL. The soon to be 17 year old is expected to play there next year.
At last count Baker stood 5'10" and weighed in at 180.

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

This today from Garth Snow, GM of Islanders

Veterans Steve Bernier and Marek Zidlicky likely won't return, possibly opening up spots for some of the franchise's rising youngsters such as Ryan Pulock, Adam Pelech and Scott Mayfield.

Snow said the Islanders' success in recent years has allowed them to develop their young players as opposed to rushing them up when the team was in rebuilding mode.

"Really a good spot for our organization and our team to be in is to be patient with these players," he said. "They're going to play a big role in our club making the next step."

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

With the start of the Conference Championships, time to take a closer look at the DU connections.

Tampa Bay--Matt Carle, missed 2 games due to injury, he has 3 assists in the 8 games he has played. That point total matches last year's point total in 25 games. Much better performance this year. Associate Coach Rick Bowness is the Sr. to DU's Hockey SID Rick Bowness Jr.

Pittsburgh--Beau Bennett suffered through another injury plagued year and has not seen action in the playoffs.

St Louis-- Paul Stastny leads all play-off contenders winning 59% of faceoffs. He is 3-6-9 for points. Stastny's line had 9 points in the last game against Dallas. Chris Butler was called up from the AHL, but has not played. EVP Bruce Affleck watching it all.

San Jose--Daniel Doremus played 20 games for the San Jose Barracudas and that is the closest connection to the Sharks.

Thanks Ralph, I assume he will be eligible in 2017/18 as a transfer. Cowley will graduate in one year and Jaillet will be a senior in 2017/18. Dayton Rasmussen is also scheduled to come to DU in 2017/18 and Boston Bilous in 2019/20. DU could have Jaillet, Munson and Rasmussen in 2017/18. Munson was a freshman goalie at UVM last season and played in 21 games with 20 starts. Won a bunch of Hockey East accolades.

His bio at UVM http://www.uvmathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3686&path=mhockey
