Coming home...
Joe Colborne and Patrick Wiercioch signed with the Avs today. Both Pio alums left DU after 2 years in 2010.

Wiercioch was a West All American along with Rhett Rakhshani and Marc Cheverie. His 27 points led all DU d-men in scoring. After David Carle was diagnosed, Patrick decommited from Wisconsin and came to DU. Patrick's wife played volley ball at DU.

In 2010 Colborne led the team in Goals, Power Play goals, game winning goals, tied for short handed goals and was tied for 2nd in points scored. Colborne has been the favorite son of the Calgary Flames. His Colborne Forces provided tickets and personal attention to Canadian service men for the last 2 years.

Continuing...
Jason Zucker also left DU after 2 years (in 2012.) He just signed a 2 year contract to stay with the Wild. As a freshman and sophomore he was 2nd in scoring--45 and 46 points. Later this month, the 29th, he is getting married. Best wishes and Congratulations to the new bride and groom.

From Down Goes Brown

The second star: Beau Bennett's thumbs—The notoriously injury-prone former Penguin had a final message for Pittsburgh fans on his way out of town.
In related news, Bennett has shown some personality and can now never play for the Montreal Canadiens.

Beau showed posted a Thank You to Pittsburgh before he embarks on the Devil's business.

Matt Carle bought out by Lightning.
Had 2 years remaining @$5.5 mil.
Does $1.833mil for 4 years for not playing sound reasonable?

Moore actually had a goal and three assists -- he assisted on Wong's first period goal, scored and assisted on a Mitch Marner 2nd period goal, and again assisted on a third period Marner goal.

From Florida:

Borgstrom, Oh My https://twitter.com/FlaPanthers/status/753961196550778880

As he prepares for his final season at Denver University, senior goaltender Evan Cowley, a fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft, still has plenty to accomplish before graduating.

“The big one is a national championship,” said Cowley, who owned an 8-5-1 record with a 2.07 goals-against average and .929 save percentage last season. “We got very close last year and I feel like we’ve got the team do it this year.”

I agree with Cowley here. I think Denver should be preseason #1 nationally if Gambrell, Moore and Butcher return. Not overwhelming, but as much of a claim as any other team. With college hockey gutted by another 40 early entries, star players are at a premium and quality depth is lacking. NoDak and BU will also likely be top preseason teams.

Matt Donovan is going to Sweden to play for Frolunda(SHL). He'll be playing against Malmo's Rhett Rakhshani.
