Lacrosse honors--may be old news, but...

Twenty-six Pioneers named to Big East All Academic team
http://www.denverpioneers.com/sports/m-lacros/spec-rel/072816aaa.html

All Americans--USILA

Sophomore faceoff specialist Trevor Baptiste (Denville, N.J.), junior close defender Christian Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.), junior attackman Connor Cannizzaro (Cazenovia, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Zach Miller (Steamburg, N.Y.) were all First Team All-America selections, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced on Saturday morning. Junior midfielder Tyler Pace (Coquitlam, B.C) was tabbed a USILA Second Team All-America selection, giving Denver five All-Americans in 2016.
The Pioneers four first-team picks are the most of any program in 2016 and the most first-team picks in Denver’s history. Baptiste and Cannizzaro are DU's first 2 time first team All-Americans

Drew Shore got married last weekend. No announcement yet where he will play next season.

Paul Stastny, Scott Mayfield and Josiah Didier were guest coaches this week at Monty's hockey camp at DU.

Newer reports on Justin Cole indicate he is coming to DU in 2017/18 so he is not Trevor Moore's replacement for 2016/17.

As of today, if Monty stands pat, there are 4 goalies, even though Munson can't play, so make that 3, 8 on defense, and 15 forwards. That's 26 available to play. Ogard in goal, and 4 skaters-- Hawkinson, who's back to forward, Ritt, Junda have played very little and Mostrom on defense not at all.

Monty could bring in someone scheduled for 2017. '96 Joachim Weberg and '97s CJ Dodero and Jack Doremus have graduated from high school and played in the USHL. Or find an uncommitted late bloomer. In either event the player would have to be accepted at DU and go through the NCAA Clearing House.

Latest is Cole is coming to DU this fall.

Re: ALL THINGS DENVER--XL--This one's for Old Pio

Luke Salazar signs with Colorado Eagles.

Do you remember...
Luke did not have a scholarship his freshman year.
6'5" Joe Colborne, 6'4" Patrick Wiercioch (1st and 2nd round NHL draft choices), and 5'7" Luke Salazar (undrafted, but not unrecruited--UAA, Northeastern, directional Michigan school) were 60% of the 2008-09 Freshman class.
These 3 scored 91 points (31-35-25 respectively) which was 94% of the freshman class total.
After scoring 2 goals in his first game, Luke teamed with Tyler Bozak (Maple Leafs) and Joe Colborne (Avs) until Bozie was injured midway thru the season.
For the better half of his sophomore year, Luke was in Gwoz's doghouse. He played in 17 games and was 1=4=5.

My favorite memory is Luke jumping UP into Big Joe Colborne's arms after a goal.
Second, Any time Bozak had the puck and was headed for the net, Salazar had somehow managed to park himself on the left side for either a shot or rebound. The recruited walk-on/non-scholarship athlete earned the nick name, The Goal Czar.

Trivia: Who made up the other 40% of the '08-09 Freshman Class?
