Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

DU could potentially only be able to dress 17 skaters and 3 goalies this weekend. Out due to injuries could be Murray, Didier and Jarrod Mermis. Assuming Larkin Jacobson is still suspended that leaves 20 roster players including 3 goalies.
Rolling three lines is not that big a deal, especially with 3 TV timeouts per period.

Having six Dmen is standard, although someone mentioned last weekend that Makowski looked like he was mostly playing on the PP unit. Can't confirm that but something to look for this weekend.

Didier was seen with crutches and a boot on campus.

I don;t know what Larkin Jacobson did to bring down the Wrath of Gwoz, but I assume he wasn't wearing a purple Teletubbies costume at the time. :p

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

DU will only have 17 skaters on Friday. Roster has a total of 24 including 4 goalies. Murray and Didier are both injured, Jarrod Mermis will serve a 1-game team suspension on Friday for breaking team rules and Larkin Jacobson remains under indefinite team suspension. That leaves 3 goalies and 17 skaters. Mike Chambers has two stories in the Denver Post.

Been wondering about that one myself. What is it that a DU player can do to get an indefinite suspension?

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

There is a thread out there "Quick Question" started by the red repped JDubbs, which is enough reason not to read it, but I thought I'd take a look anyway. Much to my surprise the question is, "Who is Puck Swami?"

(From what I could tell JDubbs wanted to use a quote from the Swami to prove some obnoxiously and repeatedly stated assertion about the gophs and to rehab his rep. The gist of the other entries, "You, sir, are no Puck Swami.")

We are not alone, across a wide spectrum the Puck Swami still lives in the hearts and minds of USCHO posters.

DU drops from #5 to #6 in PWR after tying the Badgers 1-1.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Gwoz post game notes:

  • Impressed with how Wisconsin played DU - they are tough and strong.
  • Pleased with the Pios finding a way to tie the game with how frustrating that Wisconsin made it. Wishes he could decline penalties now.
  • Gwoz agreed with Rycroft in that on the Power Play, we are looking for the perfect pass. Gwoz wants players to shoot and guys to drive for rebounds.
  • Gwoz is still talking about guys needing to shoot the puck and looking for rebounds.
  • Gwoz needs team to understand that there will be several of this kind of game coming up.
  • DU missed some great opportunities and he single out Tabrum in particular. Mentioned once again that guys need to shoot.
  • Sam Brittain is starting tomorrow night.

In my opinion the Badgers outplayed the Pios and deserved the win,. UC was the only reason we got the tie. Strange blend of puck control and sloppiness just like last weekend. Power play something like -2 for 15 in the last three games. McCabe had an incredibly strong game for UW. No production from the first line.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

I'm going to predict a Badgers sweep...

Well, that ain't gonna happen. I guess you haven't learned about DU's uncanny ability to avoid being swept by a WCHA team (nor about the odds of winning Power Ball as a retirement solution). Back to your box Mexi.

Actually, didn't Levin get an assist on our goal tonight? I think he's still up on the first line. Not great production, but important, timely production at the end. Plus, I thought we dominated the OT session sans the end of penalty chance that Bucky got. Overall though, I had wished for better play from the Pioneers. But I don't think Wisconsin "deserved" the win. I think our guys played a game against a frustrating dump-and-chase team and came out with a point at home. Gwoz and company through the years have shown a great ability to adapt and I look forward to witnessing our effort tomorrow.

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Numbers 1, 3, 7, and 8 fall tonight. Cloudies were down 3-0 in the first but have battled back to 3-3 in the 3rd. 2 minutes left. #5 squeaks out a tie.

I'm pretty sure that UNH will take over the top spot in the polls for whatever that means at this point in the season. I'm hoping that DU comes out with a strong performance tomorrow as we need 3 points from this Wisco series.

Depends on the outcome of the Boston game tomorrow. One BC loss doesn't bump them--they're way too good.

Anyone have faceoff stats from tonight?

Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV

Wow! SCSU pulls off a win at UAA after being down 3-0. They win 4-3 in OT.
