Re: All Things Denver-The Real XXXIV
And this is where I would eat the crow, if I had said that DU would win this weekend, as opposed to just pointing out that polls are stupid and PWR meaningless this early. However, I have had serious reservations about the D all season, and this weekend showed exactly why. DU scored 2 relatively soft goals on a guy who, by all accounts, seems to be one of the top goalies in the country, and they couldn't take advantage. Against CC, the UNH fans mentioned in the game thread that allowing 2 goals in a game has been unusual, so I think DU and CC can be proud of hanging 4 each on them. But DU got real complacent, and a good team made them pay.
As for UNH fans, you might consider the fact that you have given up more than one goal in relatively few games, then allowed four in consecutive games as a cause for some concern. And Hockey East fans in general might take that as a sign that out west, we can score some goals.
Agreed completely. I have been quite concerned with the defense. They have relied much too much on goaltending, and in games where the goalie only played well instead of great, the other teams has scored several goals.IMHO, I'd say we've become too concerned with scoring goals and as a result are not playing the quality defensive game we were projected to have. Too much action in front of Sam tonight that should have been cleared.
We just have to work harder on protecting our net.
There you go! That's how you talk smack! For future reference, just be like this! Don't do this namby-pamby 'well maybe you guys might have been the beneficiary of a weak schedule or something.' Just say what you think. Declare yourself. Then eat the crow if you're wrong. My opinion of you just went up tenfold.Would that be the same Hockey Least and ECAC that are currently holding down 6 of the top 7 PWR spots (7 of 8 if you count soon to be HE member ND)?
As for DU, I think my point was proven this weekend. It's one thing to beat a bunch of unranked teams, another to beat teams in the top 10, which DU was unable to do on two occasions this weekend at home. To be honest, not even sure if they belong in the top 10 anymore - certainly not the top 5...
