Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

I just read the NCHA format. As things hold now, divisions go out the window after the mid-week play-in. It would be CSS-Adrian and Marian-SNC. Basically, we used the division's just for a pair of Wednesday night play-in games. Seriously.

What a ****ed-up system.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Hammer definitely has a handle on NCHA Hockey.

(Sorry, couldn't resist). But, it is a fact.

Who would you rather play...CSS or Marian? I'd think CSS because of the 10-hour drive for them. May work in your favor. I gotta think CSS is going to do everything to get a point this weekend and hope SNC wins both so they go to SNC instead of Adrian.

This weekend Adrian has the long haul to Duluth.

If they do well, and they should, it'll be a shorter ride home.

To be determined.

I know Marian got a point from us, and got a win from SNC. Plus, they're #4 in the West now (rightfully so, IMO). CSS has played us very tough the past couple years as well.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Both are very tough teams. If we call it even I'd say you'd prefer CSS because of their long drive to your place. Will be interesting to watch!

They would more than likely make the trip a couple days in advance so the drive should mean very little. Just an outsider looking in.

I would think that CSS would travel to Adrian on Thursday, Feb. 25, since they will host a first round NCHA playoff game the night before...

Either that or they get right on the bus right after the game Wednesday night.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

That would be a pretty rough schedule, though my son had some crazy travels in Juniors, too. Guess it's the life of a hockey player

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Another interesting evening. Guys need to get it together if they want to go all the way. They won, but same stuff creeping into play again.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Yeah, that was not a good third period by any stretch. Gotta come back and win tomorrow.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

A few things at hand here tonight.

Adrian beats CSS 4-2 tonight to wrap up a share of the NCHA regular season championship, and the top seed in the conference tourney.

Lawrence beat Lake Forest tonight to grab a playoff spot of their own, and end MSOE's season. The playoff seedings are as follows. On Wednesday night:

Lawrence at St Scholastica
Concordia at Marian

Single game elimination on Wednesday night. Highest remaining seed travels to SNC. Lowest remaining seed travels to Adrian. Both of those will be 2-game series, with a DMG if necessary after the 2nd game. It is possible that Adrian could play CUW, Lawrence or CSS. They cannot face Marian next weekend. SNC could face Marian, CSS or Lawrence. They cannot face CUW next weekend.

The winners of those two series next weekend will play at the highest remaining seed the following weekend in a single championship game, probably on Saturday night. I say "probably" because one certain school may end up hosting both men's and women's NCHA title games that weekend.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

Crazy box scores from the weekend. I was out of town so I didn't watch either game. Glad the Bulldogs came out on top. Im going to make it down to Adrian for Friday and or Saturday. Looks to be another semi-final against St. Schol.
Anyone out there that saw the games last weekend think Schol. has a shot at an upset?

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

If we don't play like we're capable, then yes, they'll beat our asses like a drum.

Don't forget to hang around Saturday night for the women's game against St. Scholastica, too. They'd love to have the support, and they're well worth your time.

Re: Adrian Hockey: Season 9

This is the postseason now. It's for real now. That other team is playing for their season, too. Any team can take us out if we don't play like we know we can.

If it is St. Scholastica, keep in mind that they have a senior goaltender who has given us fits over the past three years, and he's fighting for his collegiate career now.
