Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

I disagree. A National Championship would do it. Point final. A veteran team, good coach, seemingly good recruits. I will be very surprised if they are not in the Final Four. My feeling is they should take it all. It just remains to be done.

They won't be in the Final Four, unless they make the Basketball championship round. ;)

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

A 4-1 win followed by a 9-1 pasting of Marian makes me feel a helluva lot better. We did give up a lot of shots, but we can take that with a grain of salt for now.

Oh, and 7-19 on the power play this weekend? I'll take 36.8% for the year. That's a couple points better than last year.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

A great start to the season, against a team that has given us problems in the past. The scoring was balanced, and if that continues on a consistent basis, it will create alot of headaches for opposing coaches.

Graham will have a challenge fitting in between Miller and Skelly, but given his resume, and the skills of those linemates the adjustment shouldn't take long.

Congrat's to Andrew Dovey who scored his first collegiate goal on the weekend !

The Bulldogs have moved up to #5 in the USCHO Poll......good news, but I've got a feeling that they haven't peaked on that scene yet.

Looking forward to the home opener at Arrington on Friday when Northland pays a visit.:)

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

You guys are lucky the MCHA is nicer to the Adrian men than the women's NCHA.

NCHA women's playoff format
WOMEN
Top eight (8) of nine teams will qualify for playoffs
High seeds will host Quarterfinal series weekend of Feb 26-28, 2010 using the two games + mini game format
Semifinals and Championship will be single-elimination at one site weekend of Mar 5-7, 2010
Semifinals and Championship will be hosted by highest remaining seed (second highest if Adrian is high seed)

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

My guess is that they just don't want to send all the women team's to the same place as the men's squads.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

All right, off to the arena for the home opener/sacrifice against Northland. I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-1 or so.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Oops. Off by just a bit.

Adrian houses Northland 13-3. Northland is a little better than I expected. They played very well given what I expected, but the roof caved in during the 2nd period. Adrian pours in 6 in the 2nd to make it a 9-1 game after 2, and the third was non-descript, about as well as you can expect with 6 goals scored in the 3rd.

Also, Dahlinger had 8 points tonight. No, I'm not exaggerating.

Very chippy game on both sides. I'd expect more tomorrow.

One more thing.

EARTH TO MUSIC GUY AT ARRINGTON:

The band should have precedence over any and all music that you put over the loudspeakers. This is not Joe Louis Arena, and this is not some backwoods minor junior outlet. This is a college arena. When you hear the band start with the fight song, get your hand on the PAUSE button for the music. When you get the band along with the canned music it's the equivalent of serving dog**** on fine china. Let's get it together, please.

I can't wait until January for Adrian to play Hamline. I wish Adrian was in the NCHA so they could play a more competitive schedule. Both teams look to be pretty good.

I second the motion. The music guy seems to think he's a DJ at a wedding party. It's not about you, dude. And the band is good--very good.

I don't care if the band sounds like a bunch of kazoos. The band takes precedence. You hear the band, or see the band, you shut the house music off. Period.

Pep bands add a whole lot more to the atmosphere than canned music. I'd prefer silence or a buzzing crowd to some of the noise that is played on most arena PAs.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

That would be amusing.

Expect lots of penalties this weekend. Lake Forest averages over 41 PIM/game this season, even over only 4 games. And it wasn't just one game, either.

This is the one home series that I'm really curious about. I haven't seen Lake play yet.
