Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

By the way, never expected Lake Forest to light the lamp 7 times this weekend.
Not sure what that means yet. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

It doesn't mean as much when Adrian pours in 21 over the same series.

Adrian didn't play their best on the defensive side, whether between the pipes or on the blue line. It didn't help that Waller got the game misconduct in the 1st game, but that doesn't excuse the 5 goals today, either.

Adam Love deserves recognition for scoring a Lake Forest goal in each period. His hat trick went somewhat unnoticed while 10 Bulldogs were scoring goals.

Lake Forest have a very young team with 12 new skaters along with three rookies in net. The have good size and they used it well against Adrian.
Alot of their chances resulted from winning some of the wars along the boards, in the corners, and creating traffic around the crease. They weren't as skilled as the Bulldogs. Adrian's quick puck movement and ability to finish made all the difference.

The refs were making needless incidental calls both ways, and never allowed the game to flow. One thing that frustrates me, especially when teams are playing the body, is when one referee is in the zone and watching the play closely, and the other ref standing at the redline decides he has a better view and makes a call. Both teams played shorthanded for over a third of the game. Hard for both sides to get all players involved high gear when the ref's decide they want to be noticed.

If they improve, and if their Coach can find some combinations that gel,
I think in time the Foresters will assert themselves as a top team in the MCHA.

The Bulldogs quietly went about their business scoring 11 goals in front of a crowd of 150 at a school with about 5,600 students.

I was at this game....150 was very optimistic!!! More like 75....
I was the only fan in the stands for warmups:eek:

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

Looking forward with great anticipation to the next three games which should be a great test for the Bulldogs.

Off campus rink.... Not a very nice facility (for college hockey, anyways) at that.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

From the picture on the Concordia website I thought it looked like a nice facility.

It's not a BAD facility, but not nice enough to draw that many people off campus to watch an unestablished team that nobody's really heard about.

They should see Steele Hall or Maxy.... Well Maxy is nice just because of the indoor complex, but the rink is crap. Sure its not Chip or the Campus Center, but its nothing horrid. Adrian with a very impressive 120 minutes of hockey....again ;)

To me it doesn't differ a great deal from Arrinigton ....from the outside.
I thought from the website, that this facility was on or at least very near the campus.

Arrington's seating arrangements need improvement, but the potential for that improvement is in place . There's a disconnect between each section that prevents the fans from joining in the fun as a group. If they get it right it will be a great venue. The students are starting to catch on and when the band is at the game they add a lot to the atmosphere.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

And if they were to beat Oswego what would that really mean in the big picture of things?
About the same as Salem St.'s win over St. Norbert.

Great for secondary criteria.

But, face it - make your reservations right now for St. Norbert on the 2nd Saturday in March. SNC and UWSP are the only Western schools within 500 miles of you and SNC, barring a collapse of epic proportions, should make the tournament as WR#1 or WR#2.

(1) one of the few cross region games this year. All I can think of are
Stout @ the Primlink
Salem @ the CSS Showcase
Adrian @ Oswego

Stout did not so good
Salem split
and only you are left.

(2) Because Adrian, if it make the tournament, has this pesky 500 mile rule staring the selection committee in the face. If both SNC and Adrian make the Big Skate, you're going there.

I hear ya !

Lots of hockey to play, and while wins vs Hamline & Oswego will look good on the resume ,the only games that mean anything will be conference playoffs.

That said, I don't envy you and your remote chances of the MASCAC receiving an at large bid.

Maybe ... it will also depend on how many E's and W's there are. Several of the ECAC Ws and Sunyacs are within 500, and I could easily see Adrian getting a second trip to Oz.

Re: Adrian Hockey 2009-10: A New Hope

How could that happen if they are rated 22nd in DIII.

The 22nd is punishment for having to play CNW lastweekend and for the rest of the MCHA's overall SOS. But they are the highest ranked team in the MCHA according to my computer.
