I don't know if you'll get a Bulldog Cheese steak there, but it should work. :D

2 great games by the Bulldogs this weekend. In the first period Friday I was kinda feeling that the Dogs werent ready to play, but from that period on they played some of the best hockey I have ever seen them play. Congrats to the Bulldogs for winning 4 straight championships and Brad Fogal for his accomplishment!

BullDogs did play some of their best hockey of the season. Very impressive. I think that was Fogal best performances of his BullDog career. That bodes well for the BullDogs with Fogal playing that kind of hockey.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

All right.

The only thing we should be focusing on is the next game, two weeks from now. I'm guessing we're looking at Lawrence, as I think MSOE will make quick work of Lake Forest, and while I wouldn't be surprised if Northland gets past Lawrence, I still expect LU to get through.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

Northland have had a great season and have clearly kicked their level of play up a notch, including a victory at home over Lawrence. I still think it would be a pretty big upset if Lawrence doesn't advance.

Adrian seem to have gotten their defensive game nicely tidied up.
Brad Fogal deservedly received MCHA Player of the Week honours.
I'm sure the team will be chomping at the bit after a two week stretch of practices.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

...from the MCHA website.....

"Four years after beginning a program from scratch, Adrian College seniors leave their names all over the MCHA record book on offense and defense. Prior to the Bulldogs joining the MCHA, just two former players recorded over 100 career points in Finlandia's Josh Paquette (130 on 47G/83A) and MSOE's Lee Swallow (120 on 45G/75A). That list is now seven members long with the addition of five Bulldog seniors.

1. Shawn Skelly - 161 (73G/88A)

2. Eric Miller - 131 (60G/71A)

3. Mike Dahlinger - 125 (34G/91A)

4. Brad Houston - 119 (55G/64A)

5. Sam Kuzyk - 102 (45G/57A)

In addition, Skelly (73), Miller (60), and Houston (55) now make up the top three in career goals. Dahlinger (91) and Skelly (88), who traded places down the stretch, now make up the top two career assist leaders and Quinn Waller is the all-time leader in assists (76) and points (87) by a defenseman. Lastly, Brad Fogal leaves as the MCHA's all-time leader in career wins with 70 (as part of a 70-1-1 record, second place is 37 wins) and with 72 games played. He also is second all-time in goals against average at 1.68 and save percentage at .934. He also broke former St. Norbert College goalie Kyle Jones career NCAA record for wins and is now at 89-10-2."

Well deserved recognition guys. I think everyone agrees that the MCHA is a much stronger conference with Adrian's arrival raising the competitive bar up a couple of hundred notches.

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

All right. Here we are again, only this time it's a little different. Another MCHA final. Another Adrian-Marian matchup for an NCAA tournament bid. Everything the majority of this team has done, everything they have worked for, has come down to this game. Tomorrow is the final MCHA game in Arrington Ice Arena for 17 seniors. I have no idea what is going to happen after tomorrow, so let's leave that right there.

Adrian is playing the only team to ever beat them in conference play, and they've done it twice. We all remember just how close last year's final was. If Adrian comes out and plays like they are capable, they will be in the NCAA tournament. If not...............

This the first meeting since that game. Adrian has their chance to avenge this loss. It's up to them.

Another championship for the Bulldogs. Congrats to the Bulldogs and coach Fogarty, Pasakaris, and McCabe for leading this group to another title. Like coach Fogarty said there are still 4 more wins to get before the ultimate goal, and I hope that this could be the year. Having 2 weeks off did not hurt the Bulldogs at all and I was very impressed with their defensive effort this weekend, if they play like that the rest of the way they will be able to compete with anyone in the country. Congrats to Skelly, Miller, Graham, Klaver, and Fogal for making the all tourney team, all the seniors will be missed next year. Congrats again and I hope to see them in MN in a few weeks!

Re: Adrian Chapter IV: A Legacy of Firsts from the Class of 2011…..

I think I can exhale now.

Adrian brought their A-game this weekend. No two ways around it. That's the team I've seen for the better part of four years.

I sit next to one of the players' parents. I told her with about 5:00 to go; "Look around. Because it will never be like this again". And it's true. The class that replaces this one may go on to bigger and better things than what this class accomplishes. But it will never be the same.

A few years ago I was at Joe Louis Arena for the CCHA championships, watching my alma mater advance to the conference finals after winning the regular season. A good friend of mine, a long time Michigan fan that has seen a great deal of success on the ice in Ann Arbor, marveled at our fans and their enthusiasm. I think we came to the conclusion that it's not the repeated success that brings the most joy to a fanbase. It's the journey to the success, and the newness of the success itself. That's what we've got here. This was the first journey, this freshman class that is now seniors.

It's a near certainty that I will not be able to attend Adrian's NCAA tournament run, however long it is. In all likelyhood, I just saw this team play for the final time. Gentlemen, it was a pleasure watching you play for the last four years. Thank you very much.
