#4 SCSU vs. #1 Notre Dame in Toledo: Jan and Rudy for a One Night (Afternoon) Stand

Re: #4 SCSU vs. #1 Notre Dame in Toledo: Jan and Rudy for a One Night (Afternoon) Sta

FYI: Last year, FSN north picked up the games as well, but blacked out on satellite outside its home area.....

The good news is the game will be televised in South Bend and St. Cloud (as well as all or part of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa). Hopefully it will work out for others trying to watch from outside those areas.

St. Cloud State alumn Mike Hastings recognized by CHN as their Coach of the Year. Great job Mike!

There's always more bars than churches. Unless you live in Calumet, MI. Such a sad place.

I really couldn't give two ****s if you trust me. I'm surprised that SCSU had as good of a season as they did. They had the talent and they played up to their potential for the most part. I didn't think they would, even up to a month or so ago. I'm not saying they're not capable of making it to the FF, I think they are, however I think it's going to be a tough road for them. All I was trying to say was that I was impressed and no matter what happens in the playoffs, I would judge this season as a successful last way to end the current WCHA. Again that's not to say that they can't make the FF. If it's one and done for you, that sucks, but there's not much shame in losing to a traditionally good school like Notre Dame.

Not everything I post on here is meant to be a put down, Tipsy. I was trying to congratulate your team. And I do hope to see you in the FF. The more Minnesota (and WCHA to a lesser extent) teams the better in my mind.

Thanks for the compliment and the same goes for your team too.

Just a word of advice, your compliment does come off as condescending.

If any of us had gone into a Gopher thread and said you should be happy with a one and done season in the NCAA's (especially after sharing the MacNaughton Cup) we would certainly be skewered for it.

I just have to add that the Seniors Drew Leblanc and Ben Hanowski deserve a lot better for all of the hard work and their contributions to this team. To outplay and lose to Wisconsin was bad enough but then having the chance of being on the outside looking in would have been a terrible ending to their careers here at SCSU. I am hoping for all the best and they make history for this program.

I also have to add that we played pretty well in our non conference losses as well except for two games.
The first New Hampshire loss at the beginning of the season and the first Northern Mich loss (bad penalty on Benik-5 min maj that deflated the team).

The second New Hampshire and first RPI game was about even. The second Northern Mich game we outshot them 38-21 and lost 2-1.
Those close losses killed us in the PWR all season.

I think my post is getting misread, maybe that's my fault. All I was trying to say was that your team has had a successful season so far and that's something to be proud of regardless of what may come. I guess I'm speaking less of post-season play and more so about your regular season.

I also believe the Gopher team has had a successful season so far and that's something to be proud of regardless of what may come. I'm speaking less of the Gopher's post-season play and more so about thier regular season.

Will you still be proud of your successful regular season if the Gopher's lose to Yale?

How the Gophers do in the post-season won't affect my feelings about their regular season nor will it take away the fact that they won another Mac Cup. I fully expected the Gophers to make it BACK to the Frozen Four this year after their successful season last year. Anything less than that will be dissappointing for me.

SCSU is in unprecedented territory. They've had their most successful regular season and won their first MacNaughton. Congratulations for that. Good luck in the future. Other than that...**** it. Thank you for reminding me to never compliment the Huskies again.

It's hard to look back at dropped points against Tech, AA, and CC early on in the season and be TOTALLY pleased with the regular season. Hindsight is 20/20, but as it turned out in the conference standings, those were some important points. Add to that a pathetic Friday night effort against a decent DU team at home, barely squeaking out a first round sweep of Bemidji, and laying an egg in practically a home game at the Final Five and it leaves me......frustrated.

I know you were talking regular season so if you take the BSU playoff series and the Final Five out of there, then yeah I guess I am proud of their regular season. I will always be proud of the Gophers team and proud to be a fan, but if they lose to Yale in the fashion that they did against CC last Friday night it will certainly leave a sour taste in my mouth. I understand losses happen. Crazy bounces can happen. If they decide not to show up like they did against CC, that might take away from my perspective on the entire season though. I think you have to take into account the returning talent the Gophers had and the expectations that came along with that. Now, while SCSU was picked by many people to be a much improved team and finish in the top half(I was not one of those people:o), I don't think many people had them picked to share the Mac or push for a Frozen Four. Based on preseason expectations for the Gophers, I'd say a one and done for the Gophers would be more of a downer for Gopher fans than a one and done for SCSU would be to Husky fans.

I don't know if I'm making any sense. I apologize for this rambling, I didn't expect to type for that long.:o

Re: #4 SCSU vs. #1 Notre Dame in Toledo: Jan and Rudy for a One Night (Afternoon) Sta

Like I said, thanks for the compliment and good luck to the Gophers.

Just saying, if I came over to a Gopher thread and started it out the way you did I'm pretty sure I would have been ripped to shreds.

I think we've been pretty easy on you.

We did win a NCAA game in 2010 which wasn't that long ago and I'm pretty sure expectations are a little higher with this team. We could probably lose Jensen along with the seniors and possibly Dowd or Gravel this offseason.

It's our eighth appearance in the last 13 seasons , so I think a lot of people would like 2 games or a frozen 4. I think another one and done would just pile it on.

I think our fanbase is tired of playing second fiddle and I think it would mean a lot to carve out some history of our own. We've seen what Duluth could do and we are saying why not us?

What exactly about our position right now is unprecedented? I guess I don't get that...

Yes, we won a share of the MacNaughton this year but in terms of # of wins and expectations I would think the 00/01 team ranks way higher. That team won 31 games, won the broadmoor and they were a #1 seed in the tournament. We've been to the NCAA 7 times since the 99/2000 season (8 if you count this year).

I think the reason some people are a bit peeved is you seem to be implying that we should be happy to just be here. We've been "here" enough that going one and done yet again will not satisfy a vast majority of our fan base. Sure the mac cup is nice but it will mean little if we bow out after 1 game.

Plus with our less than stellar NCAA resume, we husky fans get a little testy this time of year. :o

Dirty Bottles put it best. A couple months ago no problem, bringing up one and done right before our big game, expect us to be a little grumpy or on edge about it.

I guess I have no problem if they give it their best shot.
