30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

21 - Charlie Gaffney ('95). Bowdoin's all time leading scorer with 228 points. 2nd on the Polar Bear all-time scoring list? His time brother, Joe Gaffney with 183.

http://www.nescachockey.com/2013/09/throwback-thursday-gaffneys.html

I had to chuckle when I saw this on that page:

"If the twins weren't enough Gaffney for Bowdoin, their sister Susan Gaffney Rowley ('97) is an alumna as well. Jon Gaffney, who earned an assist on Utica's game winning goal over Bowdoin in the 2013 NCAA tournament quarterfinals, is not related."

And, yes, I had wondered if Jon was related.

#20 Jimmy Sokol. 2001-2005 Captain for each of the first 4 years of Utica's hockey history (although there were no official captains for the first year, he established himself as team leader). Point leader for each of those years. First Utica hockey All-American.

Did ya like leaving the CC when his gloves went on fire:eek:.....I didnt it was #@$'in cold out there:p
I never actually made it outside because I found out it was just some gloves on fire and lingered around long enough that I didn't have to go out.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

With bias since he was a classmate, along with #55 Bryan Murray, I have to choose Jeff Paluseo. Though without bias, Peter DeArmas and Lenny Pereira did the number 19 proud.

Favorite #19: that'd be Ryan Woodward, the captain of the title team. He was a leader in every sense of the word. Josh Chamberlain, a good defensive forward who could score the odd goal also wore #19, and also Corey Domenico. Now Eli Kim-Swallow wears that number and he's poised to break out this year (I think).

I was there, and when the fire alarm went off I didn't know what to do. So me and my buddy went outside and waited. Well, Oswego was playing so hot at the time, and to have the building catch on fire...
At any rate, I remember watching on WTOP when Eric Selleck endorsed Hockey Night in Oswego: "Hi, this is Eric Selleck of the Oswego State Lakers, and when I'm not trying to burn up the arena, I'm busy watching Hockey Night in Oswego on WTOP."

Norwich-

19 Travis Janke, great awareness of the ice, setup man, puck handler. Lynn Beedle, fast, and sentimental favorite for his grit and determionation in coming back to play.

Adrian Bulldogs #19 Mike Dahlinger
Big heart ...big smile......and a big part of AC's inaugural class "2010".
National scoring leader 2009-10*

Plattsburgh's Jeff Paluseo ('96-00) was a great one. All-American as a senior. He ranks 11th on the Cards all-time scoring list with 183 points and that's sayin' something. He also had just 12 minor penalties in four years which made him one of the most polite players in the program's history.

With all due respect to Jeff Paluseo, Lenny Pereira was the most outstanding Cardinal wearer of # 19, with a National Championship ring to boot !

You are absolutely right. I wasn't sure what number Pereira was. No doubt he was better than Jeff. Peter DeArmas is in the Cardinal Hall of Fame, so he wouldn't be a bad choice either. Pete was as fast as anybody we ever had and developed in to a prolific scorer. He had an interesting career as the team went into a dive after he got here, but he was around long enough to play with Piromalli and Joey Ferras for a total resurgence of the team. He played for 3 different coaches in 4 years. So, Pereira first, then Paluseo, then DeArmas.

Ryan Woodward, no offense to those other guys but they don't even belong on the same page as Woody. He was a scorer and one heck of a Captain, the best Oswego has had since my pick for number 14 which I will name later.

Another pretty decent number 19 was Steve Cavallaro. He had a wicked shot and he was also not afraid to mix it up and he did drop the gloves a couple of times.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#30: Niklas Sundberg (case closed)
#29: Craig Barnett - Before the word "Barney" was about a purple dinosaur
#28: John Wells - Would have made Greg Louganis proud with his diving abilities
#27a: Steve Ashe - The HIT, still have the jersey in the family.
#27b: Shane Ferras - While he wasn't Joey, he could still light it up. 91-98-189 isn't too shabby.
#26: Michel Valliere
#25: Steve Moffat
#24: Dylan Clarke
#23: Eric Seidel
#22: Derrick Shaw
#21: Jason Kilcan
#20: Dan Schaly
#19: Lenny Pereira

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Excellent list ! I might take Joey Wilson over John Wells though. Although Seidel could dangle, I like Dennie Poulin (126 pts. in 2 years) over Eric (133 pts. in 4 years). But that's just because I'm older than hell. Something else just occurred to me.....wasn't the talented Steve Moore #27 ??? He was a monster !
