30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

This is a tough one for me. It comes down to a choice between Jesse McConney and Tyson Gajda with Matt Whitehead as an honorable mention. I came up with my handle on here quickly so I could answer a question someone had. The 28 part of the name was an homage to Tyson Gajda. Tyson played goal with a ton of swagger and when he was on he was tough to beat, and the team really fed off him. He backstopped the Laker's to the first SUNYAC title that I personally witnessed and held them in the 2003 National Championship game against and incredibly strong Norwich team. I have always been a huge fan of playing and watching goaltender's and Tyson was a fun one to watch.

#27 is now up. I can recall a few good ones.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Pretty easy one for Geneseo fans ...

#27 Mitch Stephens

Best player in my 9 years of following the team.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Tory Allen for Norwich, although it was a tough choice over Garret Winder........

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Little late on this

#30: Niklas Sundberg (case closed)
#29: Craig Barnett - Before the word "Barney" was about a purple dinosaur
#28: John Wells - Would have made Greg Louganis proud with his diving abilities
#27a: Steve Ashe - The HIT, still have the jersey in the family.
#27b: Shane Ferras - While he wasn't Joey, he could still light it up. 91-98-189 isn't too shabby.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Stephens from Genny....close second to Shane Ferras. Allen from Norwich third.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#28 Albert Mitchell, Elmira (He later switched to #13 but boy was he ever one of the biggest fan favorites at Elmira in the last decade)
#27 Dean Jackson, Elmira (Solid player and leader. Won a national championship with the EC women in his first year as head coach.)

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#27- Zach Graham (F) - Adrian Collage- A reliable big time scoring machine. Fun to watch him play.

My favorite number 27 for the Lakers is Chris Brown. He came to the Lakers from the Wellington Dukes after having scored 81 points in his final season there. He played in only seven games as a Freshman and had no points and had only four in 11 games in year two. He then had 21 and 34 in his last two years and was a catalyst offensively in the stretch run this season. He is a great example of what can happen if you are willing to wait for your time to come.

Francois Gagnon was a pretty good power play quarterback, Tim Thomas was just an excellent team first type of guy and Alex Kurilovich was an Oswego product who once he figured out staying out of the sin bin was more productive than being in it, became a solid defensive forward.

A tip of the hat to #27 Ward Smith ('06-09)of Plattsburgh who's career was cut way short because of concussion issues. Ward could really carry the mail from his defense post (52 points in a little over 2 seasons). He could've been a contender !

Ward Smith and Nick Rolls were studs. That 08-09 Plattsburgh team was so loaded.

#27 - Plattsburgh's Claire O'Connor -- great player, great in the community as well!

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

I liked both John Grabie and Jason Wilson, but for me it was Robbie Jackson (although he switched to 11 later).

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

#26- Phil Bushbacher (F)- Lawrence University- Big (6'3"-230), strong, and fast. The quintessential power forward. A pleasure to see work around the net.

Re: 30 day countdown to the official start - you favorite jersey #

Plattsburgh's best is probably Defenseman Ryan Corry ('06-10). He played in over 100 games and was quite gifted offensively (15-64-79). Solid player.

Chris Muise. He was the Laker's hottest offensive weapon down the stretch this past season and like Chris Brown had to wait his turn to shine. He had some excellent puck handling skills, could pass with the best of them and he was also the type of guy that loved being part of the college hockey experience and playing to the crowd. Watch at 3:23 of this video to see an example of a couple of those traits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDJ5FZTx6so
