Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

He wrote the legislation so they'd have the money to do all those things. You didn't think private enterprise paid for it, did you?

A fair response, which I anticipated. However, private enterprise paid for their share of it, as I'm sure you'll agree. Berners-Lee was part of CERN (supported by multiple governments) when he conceived of HTTP in 1980, then came back to CERN in '84, and developed/implemented the HTTP protocol in 89/90 . Whatever Gore claims, his role was smaller than he'd have us believe. :)

It wasn't like he ran his entire campaign on that. It was one line out of a random interview where he was listed things he had done during his career.

Since when has any proposal of Congress been initiated by every member? Stop acting like a child.
The rest of congress had to vote on the bill didn't they? or did the funding appear from mid air? I don't doubt he helped get the ball rolling on funding. But I'd give the credit to Colleges, Universities, DOD, etc who actually wrote the grants, lobbied for the funding.

I think we can use this tortured logic to prove that Obama had nothing to do with Obamacare. Sure he championed it and signed it in to law, but he didn't vote for it like all the Republicans must have since it passed. And it is being implemented by private sector website designers, insurance companies and doctors, so how on earth is any of it Obama's fault?

You both realize the create and invent mean different things...right?
Invent, create, whatever. He did neither for the internet. I can't believe some people still believe this. Or maybe this is one of those Bill Clinton type parsing of words thing where you torture a word enough and it tells you whatever you want.

Funny enough, you can replace 'Bill Clinton' in that statement with 'Bible thumpers' and its meaning doesn't change.

I can't believe its 14 years later and they still won't let it go. It was one line in a list of accomplishments, it's not like he started a war based on false intelligence and cost this country immeasurable blood and treasure.

Hey, if people stopped claiming this false accomplishment for him, nobody would say anthing. It's not like inventing the internet is some minor achievement like mowing the lawn.

Sarah Palin et al are going to decry this clear infringement of this guy's first amendment rights, just as they did the duck dynasty guy, right? Guys?
Anyone? Bueller?

While they're at it can they explain their position on the Duck Dynasty guy saying old guys should marry 15 year old girls?!?!

Funny who the right chooses as heroes. 40 years after leaving office in disgrace and a year after the final Watergate tapes came out showing the brutal anti-Semitism of Dick Nixon, Opie is still out here professing his love of the guy. Perhaps Duck Dynasty dude can replace David "Diapers" Vitter, a known prostitute user, in the Senate. :D

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

I wonder when Palin and the gang will stick up for Chris Kluwe's 1st amendment rights?

You mean force the Vikings to rehire him? He's spoken out freely, very freely. The fact that he hasn't caught on with anyone else speaks volumes.

And the situation differs from Duck Dynasty because....?

Ya know Bob, sometimes its okay to admit when Sarah Palin, etc are being hypocrites. ;)

Really? So if I object to the infringement of someone's free speech rights, my argument is somehow diminished, or I'm a hypocrite or something else if I don't come out and publicly object to every infringement of free speech? I have to become the Priceless of free speech, and just monitor the internet and all other forms of journalism 24/7 and publicly lambast anyone who tries to get in the way of free speech? Since when?

Look, the Duck Dynasty guy didn't have his freedom of speech infringed, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the concept. And candidly, I could care a less whether we ever hear from Sarah Palin again.

But unless she and others who were defending the Duck Dynasty guy are actively out there claiming Mr. Guns and Ammo has no freedom of speech I don't really see your point, other than a rather silly attempt to mock people with whom you politically disagree.

It's clear you don't see my point and need your sarcasm detector checked for errors. Obviously the first amendment has nothing to do with this.

There is no relevant difference between this guy being fired by some gun nut magazine and the duck dynasty guy being fired by A&E. Yet the right wing media chorus got the latter his job back and is strangely silent on the former. I wonder why that is, when they're so concerned about purported first amendment rights.
