I for one am completely in favor of the Republicans running on a "we should STILL be in Iraq" platform over a decade after that foolish war started. In fact, it should turn out as well as both the McCain and Mittens campaigns did, when they were forced to appeal to the dinosaur neocon wing of the party and take this ridiculous position at odds with like 80% of the country!

The teleprompter typist might get sent back to the general office pool after last night. ;)

....

While the President was paying tribute to Aretha Franklin, he had a hard timing with the spelling of a word famously spelled out in one of her best known songs.

"When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her, she had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African Americans, and women, and then everyone who felt marginalized because of what they looked like or who they loved," Obama said to chuckles from the audience.

When I was at a pep rally in high school the field hockey team did a routine to Aretha Franklin's song but spelled out "R-E-S-P-E-T-C" on their placards, to great enjoyment of the student body in attendance. Then the next fall they chose "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. The faculty was not amused.

"Stupid" to beef up NATO, "stupid" to send units of the Navy to the Black Sea. Unless, of course, the "community organizer" does it. Then it's brilliant. Inconsistent, dishonest & ignorant.

I realize at your age your memory probably isn't that good, but do you recall yourself raising a peep about the Georgia incident in 2008 when Bush was Prez? Because if you didn't go around calling him Neville or some other antiquated putdown that nobody under the age of 80 was around for, wouldn't you calling me inconsistent, dishonest, and ignorant better apply to yourself? Or better yet, maybe just "hypocrite" gets to the core of it. :D

That should tell you a LOT about this guy and the Presidency. Empty suit.

I have no idea if he was reading from a teleprompter or not, but I am curious to see if this lives on or gets nearly the amount of press Dan Quayle's "potatoe" mistake did.

The media favors the messiah dictator, so it'll be swept under the rug.

In other news, Ron Burgundy 2016 :D

You really have doubt on this?

Quayle was "correcting" a kid who spelled potato with no e. You suppose the context and circumstances contributed to the amount of coverage it received?

No. No matter what the context, this will not get even close to the coverage simply because of who is involved.

Tough to face up to your own shiza, isn't it? Sure hope you're packing helium, 'cause you've got more gas than the Hindenburg.

Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a d*mn about this microscopic gaffe. The fact that a similar Quayle cockup was treated far differently is also no surprise. Everybody knows Obama's the smartest guy in all "57 states." But I was reminded of the time an outdated version of the SOTU address was loaded in the teleprompter, and Clinton delivered the correct version from memory. Pretty impressive. 'Course, this is the same putz who claimed not to remember his draft lottery number. But that's another story.

Of course. Its all a plot. Do you suppose Faux "news" will run it a few times a day, or are they part of the conspiracy?

Who knows?* If NBC's not too busy fraudulently editing tape to make George Zimmerman to sound racist, they might find the time to run it. What about Rev. "Skillets" on MSNBC? Think he'll p*mp the president around? Or maybe "Tingles." If his transcripts weren't a state secret, we could refer to them to prove Neville's the smartest guy in the room (except when he's not).

*It really is outrageous there's one lonely conservative network, isn't it? Maybe Obama's hacks on the FCC can do something about that.

To hell with the Ukraine, what does Obama plan to do about the changes to Google Maps?

Here at Rover Nation, we're a bipartisan bunch despite our reputation. ;) So, I like to post stories that both Dems and Righties can agree on. One of them is that CNN Sucks! While he doesn't have the sharpest wit out there, this response from John Kerry to idiot John King is classic! From Politico:

Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a knife to the heart of CNN during Saturday night's address at the annual Gridiron Club dinner, the white-tie-and-tails event hosted by Washington's most prestigious press group.

During a humorous and well-received speech, Kerry, the evening's headliner, said that CNN's John King had asked if the former Massachusetts Senator was considering another presidential bid in 2016.

Kerry's response: "I am out of politics -- and based on the ratings, so is CNN."

Kerry wasn't the only one to take a shot at the cable news network, which has suffered from notoriously low ratings for years. Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, the Democratic speaker, also riffed on the network's woes.

"You know things are bad at CNN when they say they may go to a print edition," Crist said, noting that he had been invited to appear on the network's Sunday morning show, "State of the Union."
