Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Wait a minute, you're ADVOCATING having policy dictated by one day events????

You'll get a kick out of CNBC commentary however. Apparently it was the market reaction that caused Putin to declare there'd be no military attack in Ukraine...
Soooo...you were wrong that Putin wouldn't "climb down" until Russion unemployment hit 50%, then? ;)

Of the many thousands of people pontificating, postulating, predicting, and prognosticating on how this will play out, a few will be right (by chance) but most will be wrong.

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Has anybody thought to ask what the people in easter Ukraine, specifically in the Crimean peninsula, think about this? I know a lot of the population (most?) are ethnic Russians living in the area. Are they welcoming their new alien overlords or cowering in fear?

I don't know who the "Russions" are so I can't speak about their employment situation. :D

It's a new type of particle I discovered this morning. It's a rather reddish and carries an electrical charge - hence, a Russ-ion. :)

For those who don't know much about the Ukraine situation, this primer will catch you up.

NPR had a correspondent on this morning who spoke of a poll telling that 91% of Russian-speaking Ukrainians disapprove of Putin's actions. Don't have the source, it was published in a newspaper there which I'm guessing are not very independent. But the correspondent believed it, they more or less hate his guts.

Wait, you mean Opie when Pavlov on the bit? That never happens.

Anything to avoid discussing what a weak duck your precious Obama is. Notwithstanding the sharp creases in his trousers. He's a joke. And you know it.

McCain said Putin is still fighting the Cold War. If that's true your precious Reagan failed and didn't win the thing. Cause if he had Russia wouldn't be invading Georgia while Bush was in office and invading Ukraine now. Course I spose we could just go to War with Russia. After all isn't that what Reagan really wanted?

Re: 2nd Term Part VII: You May Like Your Doctor But You Can't Keep Her

Sooo..what is there more of in Opie's post? Stupidity or hatred? I think its about 50/50. :D

So, lets get something out of the way right off the bat. Where was Opie's rant when Russia pulled this in Georgia back in 2008? The only difference I can see is that his hero, George W Bush was in office then, so that makes it okay.

Now, I realize neoconartists and old people, of which righties tend to be both, are playing with themselves to the thought of a new Cold War, because it brings them back to their heyday of the early 1980's when the world made a lot more sense to them. Unfortunately, this is not the United States problem. Ukraine has an army. I'd suggest they use it. Otherwise, they can wait for crippling sanctions to take effect on Russia's fragile economy. Putin isn't dealing from a position of strength here. His market for his country's exports is Europe, and if they start squeezing him there's not a lot of other options.

Not every problem necessitates boots on the ground or A-bombs being dropped. Sometimes you need to just sit back, apply non-military pressure, and then let the problem child (in this case Vlady) figure his own way out of this mess. When unemployment hits 50% because his country is now a pariah state, he'll be climbing down from this in a hurry.

You really need to freshen up your act. You repeat the same old applause lines for the ladies in the chorale and have convinced yourself they're just as funny now as they were 250 repetitions ago. There are lots of things that can be done short of "boots on the ground." And so far, Neville isn't doing any of them. In the words of General James Mattoon Scott he's a "criminally weak sister."

If Reagan "really" wanted war with Russia, we'd all be speaking cockroach now.

So now this mess is Reagan's fault? Is there no limit on the willingness of libtards to defend this empty suit?

No, not Reagan's fault. I am pointing out, however, that everyone thinking the Cold War was over and Reagan won might be premature.

By that logic, Jackson won the Revolutionary War. Washington who, now?

Works for me. And it's unfortunate that Lincoln actually won his war. Although many in the South sure don't act like it.

That being the case it's nice to see Democrats haven't forgotten how to kneel, grovel and equivocate with the bear. I guess some lessons are too important to forget. Alger Hiss syndrome.

Yeah, cause Bush II's bluster sure did wonders.
