2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Hey Rover! You could possibly make more money if you quit your day job and went on the EBT card -- http://bostonherald.com/news_opinio...tts_welfare_pays_better_than_entry_level_jobs

As I make far, far more than 50 large a year, that wouldn't be a good move financially for me.

How about for you joe? ;)

PS - Would like to see some actual data to back this up mind you. While Mass does need to tighten up on fraud, that estimate seems way too high. The Herald is the same newspaper that yesterday was touting Scott Brown's Presidential chances in 2016. :D

I would love to meet any of these welfare kings and queens pulling down 50K/year. One problem with studies like these is they assume that you can get ALL of this aid. You can't. If you get A you don't get B. Many of these studies assume you can get both.

Are we going to add the Bangor Daily and Lewiston Sun to the list of places to bomb? What about the Brunswick Times Record? Any other places we should blow up?
Talk about taking something seriously

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Anyone who references the dunce Krugman automatically loses any argument. His is the only Nobel in history worth less than Obama's. My neighbor the scrap dealer knows more about economics than Krugman does.
I'm not saying anything about Obama and the deficit btw. I think it's great that the sequester appears to be doing some good in spite of his big spending proclivities. I'm only saying that Krugman is a complete fool and newspapers should stop printing his narrow minded tripe, because there are actually idiots out there who believe him.
I'm not kidding about the scrap dealer. In fact I know more economics than "One Solution" Krugman does.

Speaking of the "esteemed" Nobel winner....

New York Times columnist and Nobel Prize winning Princeton economist Paul Krugman is battling plagiarism charges after a distinguished UCLA professor of economics leveled the accusation against him on his blog.

In an open letter to Paul Krugman, UCLA economics professor Roger Farmer alleges that Krugman stole his ideas and repackaged them in his New York Times columns.

Plagiarism, especially when it comes to the hazy world of "source-citing" is about as difficult to prove as slander. Say what you will about a person's politics, but some previously unknown academic blowhard accusing another academic blowhard of plagiarism in their blarg (which prior to Brietbart gleefully picking up the story was probably read by, at most, a few hundred people) is roughly as factual as articles that claim Bush "knew" about 9/11.

Right. Newspapers, with professional reporters and editors are unreliable and biased. A collection of blogs on a right-wing website that makes its money off page views and is run by people with the same journalistic experience as most of us is perfectly reliable and unbiased. Logic!

Jayson Blair, Janet Cooke, Walter Duranty, Stephen Glass et al agree with you entirely. Oh, and Ward Churchill, too.

You can cherry pick a few individuals but the vast, vast majority of journalists have actual integrity.

I do notice you left out Judith Miller. Wonder why that is.

To give you an opportunity to yell "Tu Quoque" at the top of your squeaky, predictable little voice, that's why.

Like the "journalists" at NBC who did a little creative editing of George Zimmerman's 911 call? Those "journalists?" Or the "journalists" who published, and continue to publish photos of 12-year old Trayvon Martin? Those journalists? Or the "journalists" who referred to Zimmerman as a "white Hispanic?" Those journalists? Or the "journalists" who referred to the whore at the center of the Duke "rape" case as being an "exotic dancer?" Those journalists? Or are they not a part of the "vast, vast majority"?

If the "vast, vast" majority of journalists have integrity, that certainly differentiates them from you.

I'm deeply wounded. Some old crank on a message board questions my integrity? How am I ever to sleep at night?

You're leaving out my personal favorite. Time magazine's "darkening" of the OJ Simpson mugshot for it's cover.

Re: 2nd Term Part 5: Big Brotha

Where was Opie's righteous outrage when Bill Clinton supposedly had 100 people killed, including his own dog Buddy, was running drugs at rural Arkansas airports, fathered a child with a prostitute, raped half the population of his home state, etc etc. All this stuff, all baseless with the possible exception of having his dog whacked before it flipped on him, was reported in the lamestream media.

PS - Good call on Judith Miller, although Opie probably has the hots for the old broad.
