29 per day

Re: 29 per day

Alcoholism is a mental and physical health disorder.

DUI is a symptom, and a societal problem, because of how alcohol affects people. It makes them cocky, stupid, and willing to take risks like trying to operate machinery when they're slow, uncoordinated, and sleepy.

That said, there's a difference between blowing a .08-.10 after you stayed back for one extra beer that one time in college, versus blowing a .20+. The former is most likely a normal drinker who had a bad night and got busted. The latter case, probably has an alcohol problem. This is why we now have "superdrunk" laws in many states.

Re: 29 per day

Canada classifies DUI as a felony and may ban anyone with a DUI conviction from entering the country for up to 5 years.

I thought it was 10? And also, I believe you can enter despite a manslaughter conviction, which is really messed up.

And mookie: addiction is mental health, IIRC. A mind of an addict works WAY differently than someone who just gets messed up on occasion.

How many DUI arrests are multiple "addiction" mental defects?

Depends on the person. There is a difference between the person who had one too many that night and blows a .09, and the person who has had their license suspended and has had 4 previous DUI's and blows a .25 after their latest incident.

Well see there... if that person was shot after the first, there wouldn't have been a 2nd 3rd or 4th.

Scared Straight

;)

.09 can be just as dangerous as .25.

No, no it's not. That's like saying a papercut is as dangerous as a stab wound. Yes they both cause you to bleed. Potentially, they both could get infected. But one makes you blackout drunk and the other means you've got somewhat lower reaction time.

I think there was a study that showed a drastic decrease in driving accidents after dropping down from .1 and .08.

Re: 29 per day

ME is technically correct. Both drivers can have the same *result* from drinking and getting involved in a crash. But the .09 will obviously be in a better condition than .25.

The .25 is going to be prosecuted at a Super Drunk level versus the .09.

...that doesn't mean someone blowing a .09 is just as dangerous as someone blowing a .25.

Banning assault rifles and going to bolt action rifles would also curtail casualties in mass shooting events. That doesn't mean assault rifles are the same as grenade launchers.

Here’s a fvcking lawyer for you.....

Death by drunk driving is death by drunk driving.

Reason people die is the attitude here of our legal profession. Just call and they’ll get your charges dismissed.

I never claimed that was the case... lol.

If the difference between .1 and .08 is significant I have to imagine the difference between the two numbers you cite is very drastic.

Because cops have never abused their power and charged the innocent.

Just because you've been in a desert full of teetotalers doesn't mean those of us in civilization can't enjoy a pint now and again.

Yes, my point was both can lead to the same result. If you're the one on the other end of that, does it matter how drunk they are?

Why isn't .03 considered "drunk driving?" There is some measure of impairment there which could cause the same kind of injury or death.
