2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

We are in better shape than we were this morning. We'll rally around Harris. The GOP just lost 96% of their message. Everybody should stop whining and get to work on their neighbors.

I just got a text from my 75 year old lifelong democrat dad. He’s been involved with presidential campaigns at the state level, has been a delegate at the state convention, etc.

Glad he finally agreed to step aside. Might have a slightly better chance now of defeating “he who must not be named “.

And run endless, lazy panegyrics to Biden. It's perfect. At a stroke we use the media's craven vileness for us.

Until they start amplifying the sexist stuff that was said in '20.

I figure she will get a month of good grace...sort of a truncated "First 100 days". But i hate them so much right now my bias is showing.

I want Pete...he is brilliant and delivers messaging on a level rarely seen. Plus him vs. Vance would be a bloodbath.

My friends think Shapiro will be the choice cause Trump desperately needs Pennsylvania and this kneecaps that.

I don't get Beshear...I mean I like him but what did he bring? (Honestly asking)

Fwiw I was never a Biden guy never wanted him as President. He won me over and I just think he deserved way better.

I think what Beshear brings is the fact that he’s 46 (breath of fresh air to have someone under 50) and governor of a red state. Not really sure beyond that. Shapiro definitely makes more sense strategically and he’s 51 so he isn’t old either, and the ticket actually has a chance to win his state.

I think Pete Buttigieg would straight up murder Hillbilly Vance in a debate.

I don’t know exactly what the correct mechanism is but I think voters need to have some sort of say who the nominee is.

Clinton's and Clyburn both endorse Kamala.

Really looking forward to the debate now. If it's Kamala she will eat him alive.

CBC did as well. (obviously) If the Progressives and the Hispanic Caucus do as well that should about do it.

Trump might short circuit against her. Especially if he paints her as weak on crime. I honestly am not sure what he can use against her except the bs innuendo. She will kill him on race, abortion, being a criminal and will showcase what he thinks of women. And of course...his attempts to court jews is dead ;)

Heart says Buttiegieg. Head says someone like Shapiro. I want Daddy Andy to stay in Kentucky. He brings plenty to the table, but you know, Rodney Dangerfield down here.
If it’s not Harris, Pelosi et al. didn’t just stab Biden in the back, they will have decapitated his corpse. What worries me is Harris was the only candidate polling consistently worse than Biden, with similar unfavorability ratings, and little room to grow.

Biden endorsed Kamala, which moves the next question to "Do the Biden delegates stay loyal, or does it become a legendary ****show?"

We know which one is good for ratings, so I'm not hopeful.

I'm catching up on three pages, so my apologies if this was covered, but from what Ive read, any fundraising done for the Biden/Harris ticket can be used for a Harris/[VP] ticket because Kamala is still on board. If it's anyone else, the money raised is locked to Biden/Harris, and the new ticket needs to start fundraising.

Money directly sent to the DNC for *waves hands* hands obviously be used however the committee sees, but downticket candidates are gonna be screwed as the top ticket siphons money to catch up to Trump.

Plus, we now have just under four weeks to the DNC and four weeks afyer that until early voting starts. BUT ballots need to be printed ahead of time. There are some states who may not be able to get a new duo on the ballot in time (looking at you Ohio).

If the Big Wigs in Dem party didn't want Biden, why would they want Harris?

The Big Wigs only have one mechanism to stop her cause Walz isn't going to fudge the rules for fun. If the delegates hold The Big Wigs have no recourse. Maybe 3 months ago...but not now.

(Walz is an ardent Biden-Harris backer)

I don’t think it’s clear. Some polls have had her outperforming Whitmer, Newsom, et al

https://www.forbes.com/sites/sarado...trump-as-biden-drops-out-and-endorses-harris/

“A Reuters/Ipsos poll released July 2 (margin of error 3.5) found Harris would lose to Trump by one point, Biden tied Trump, while four governors who have been floated as potential Biden replacements—Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker—would all perform worse than both Biden and Harris against Trump.”

I think if she destroys Trump in a debate it will move the needle. Also, I think there would be some excitement that will boost her numbers.
