2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

https://www.threads.net/@adam.at.th...QGzgHY4i3Lm15j6QD3Ca4a3KK7U2XEEeoe3rOMEscS_FA

MSNBC averaged only 569,000 total day viewers from July 1-7 for its smallest weekly audience of the year. The progressive network also hit a low for the year among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54, as MSNBC averaged only 56,000 viewers from the critical category for its worst week of 2024.
MSNBC won’t be able to pay Rachel w these numbers. Wait until we see this week’s.

Unplug if just for a week or two.

That guy doesn't deserve to die. Biden understood that. Trump doesn't.

Deserve to die? I never wrote that. I'll leave it up to God whether he got what he deserved. But I still look at it as one less trump voter come November. And that my friend is a good thing. Especially in a swing state. And I still say f uc k her. She is a hypocrite and a liar. She doesn't want to make it political? She attended a rally and refused to take a call from an actual empathetic person who is actually sorry for what happened to her husband. trump got her husband killed, but she will dutifully go and vote for him to honor her husband. While we may not all be pointing firearms at each other and pulling the trigger, we're at war here with the MAGAts. Until we win, they can all go straight to hell.

Biden just announced on Twitter he wants to limit new housing supply.

Go back and re-read the Tweet. I'll wait.

For the rest of you all, Biden Tweeted:
I’m sending a clear message to corporate landlords: If you raise rents more than 5%, you should lose valuable tax breaks.

Families deserve housing that’s affordable – it's part of the American dream.
Now, the hand-wringing on CNBC yesterday when this was floated reeked of 'but, but, but our profits!' IIRC, it applied only to landlords who own 50 or more units, and does NOT include new or future construction of units.

Essentially, all it does is wipe out any federal tax breaks these owners may be receiving if/when they break the 5% increase. You know, eliminates the handout these landlord welfare queens keep taking from the government. I thought the GOP liked that kinda thing?

Biden does nothing: duurrrrrrr Biden is making things unaffordable

Biden caps a specific class of leeches- he’s stifling the ability to fleece people durrrrrrrrr

I think Drew’s just mad Biden stole his idea of using federal land to build housing on it. Biden said Las Vegas to Syracuse only though, so Drew’s proposal of building housing off I-95 in Maine for all the remote workers is unlikely if Biden only wants to go as far east as central New York.

Biden taking my idea is exactly what I want to see. The best thing we can do is build up smaller areas versus trying to add more housing to NY, SF, Boston, etc.

When did MSGOP become progressive?

It's interesting.

MSNBC is by far the most progressive of the Network Media. Yet, somehow the GOP gets more traction out of the media being unfair to them then the Democrats get and it has been clear for many many years now that the media is in the backpocket of the GOP.

Alex Wagner, Rachel Maddow, Jen Psaki. There are some progressive voices on the station. And they're not meek and timid like the ones you generally see on FOX, or CNN where the Republican voices overrun the progressive voices like a truck in a fight with a squirrel.

That all being said I feel like if you want balanced reporting you're most likely to get it from MSNBC because of the righties they have on the channel. It's unlike the main brand NBC News which may as well be a Fox affiliate.

I assume this is a direct result of the aftermath of the debate.

Well let's put it this way...threads (for those who dont know) is a Social Media platform that tends to skew Left. It also tends to skew on the way less toxic side. If there is one place that someone like say Rachel Maddow should feel safe to read the comments of her post it is there. Well she posted a generic "See Ya There" for her coverage of the RNC and of the first few hundred replies it was 299-1 people fed up with her and MSNBC and their constant barrage of "Biden is old!!1" and "The Dems are screwed1!1!1!" messaging. Now that is anecdotal I know...but that is what is happening to every post by them and many others in the media these days. And this should be a safe space for them...people on threads pride themselves on not being X and the hyperbolic, mean nature of that place. (the platform itself is not great though...none of the wannabe Twitters are great and they all have their problematic issues) That $24 million they are paying Maddow or whatever it is is going to be an albatross with those ratings.

So yes their post debate coverage has caused them to hemorrhage well over half of their viewing audience in prime time. They have completely lost the demo they need (25-54) coming in lower than most regional college hockey games. (ok that is a bit of hyperbole but not a lot) Gen X and the Millennials have told them to get bent. And it isn't just MSNBC, I haven't looked at them but I would bet money CNN is AT BEST holding its viewers, which were often way below MSNBC, since their coverage is worse (yesterday Scott Jennings said the "bloodbath" and "dictator" comments from Trump weren't real and were cheapfakes despite, ya know, it being on tape) meaning none of the former MSNBC viewers are going there. I bet if we could see the sub base for WaPo and the NY Times we would see a major spike in people canceling as well.

People under the age of 50 are not brand loyal to media outlets like back in the day. They have so many options to get information that they go where they feel things are on a more level playing field. What dx says about the Times, is basically the mantra of the under 50 crowd about all corporate media. People have realized they are being played. Maybe if the corporate overlords got better actors to give the news it would work better, but none of these people is any good at being able to hide that they aren't the ones in charge of the narrative. That is why they have no ability to adapt as stories change. The best you are likely to see is something like we are seeing with the Trump Assassin, who went from being a young bullied loner with likely mental health issues who was radicalized by angry rhetoric (from both sides but mostly the Dems of course) to barely being mentioned anymore as we learn he was in fact not a loner, had no mental health issues, was a registered Republican and a 2A guy. They have just pushed him aside and only talk about the rhetoric. They lost their plot thread and instead of pivoting and talking about what is right in front of their faces (I mean come on...a candidate was shot because he radicalized his own people and can barely control them...THAT IS A FRIGGIN STORY) they just shift the narrative so they can still talk about what they planned to talk about without all the facts and context. You can tell that half of them aren't really paying attention to what is going on, because the story they are going to tell was written before anything happened. There was a point after the Lester Holt interview where the MSNBC crew looked flabbergasted because Biden didn't gaffe it up or look old and feeble so they had to take a beat to find a criticism. Maddow said he was too aggressive...only Lawrence O'Donnell had the guts to say the truth.

If you move all the affordable housing to outside the cities you will kill the cities. Hell the cities are dying already.

As it is the taxbase that has all the money is already moving out of the cities cause they generally can work from home now. It's not a good trendline and before we decide to just move everyone out there we better figure out how to maintain the cities we have before they crumble.

This makes you sound just as bad as the average MAGA wearing a 'Fuck your feelings' t-shirt or when they claim Democrats are un-American.

Speaking of which, seeing a crowd of MAGAs pumping their fists and yelling, "Fight!" reminded me of the In The Flesh scene from The Wall. And the lyrics too:

So ya thought ya might like to
Go to the show
To feel the warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow

I've got some bad news for you, sunshine
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
And we're going to find out where you fans really stand

Are there any queers in the theatre tonight?
Get 'em up against the wall (against the wall)
Now that one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me
Get him up against the wall (against the)

That one looks jewish
And that one's a coon
Who let all this riff-raff into the room?

There's one smoking a joint
And another with spots
If I had my way I'd have all of you shot

And the media will say nothing about it... We'll probably get another 2 weeks of God how old is Biden articles

If you watch the clip you can see the MSNBC crew in the side by side they can obviously see it and don't even make a joke. They are so afraid of upsetting the GOP they now can't even mock Trump falling asleep at his own coronation.

If I remember correctly their numbers had been looking pretty good within the last year. I guess I am not surprised they are botching the election cycle and I bet the narrative is coming from up above. Everyone is obsessed with being fair to a criminal running for President. It is sickening. The Courts are bending over, the media is bending over, the Business World is bending over.
