2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

NYT also had something about Democrats calling for Biden to withdraw. 6 House members. 0 Senators. 0 governors.

You could find six House members that would support Satan.

People on social media are tricking bots by posting override commands. They get them to write poems, stories, anything to prove they aren't real. It's funny to read but it's scary how easily people (especially the media) are getting played.

(The bots are all concerned about Biden)

Exactly. We had a primary. It wasn't close. No one made a compelling argument to replace him then because - and I'm yelling this for the people in the back - HIS POLICIES ARE GOOD* AND HIS ADMIN IS EFFECTIVE

It's Biden and the politicians we often characterize as the most astute are backing him as well. And vocally so. It's well past time to move on from this media-driven nonsense and focus on winning the race.

*Generally

I for one have been one of the biggest Biden cheerleaders around here. I believe his policies have been solid and the effectiveness of his administration has been off the charts. And I'll say this again, measured fairly against the realities of modern politics, he is still the best president in my lifetime, and I have been around now for a lot of presidents. My worry is almost all about perception. Almost.

Biden's speech today at the NATO summit was a great example of Joe Biden in good form. He was engaging and seemed to be reveling in the moment. That Joe Biden would do fine and if he couldn't beat trump, neither could Jesus Christ running as a Democrat.

But much like Biden says don't judge him on 90 minutes more than 3 1/2 years, we need to see more of today's Biden. I don't think he is mentally compromised. I think behind closed doors when actual decisions are made he is a billion times better than trump. I guess I hope enough other people see that but I really doubt they will if Biden has another moment like the couple he had on ABC and the debate.

I'll be spending a good portion of my September and October working to get people out voting for Sherrod Brown. I hate out of state travel for work but I almost wish they'd send me somewhere with a close presidential election because I think it's more important that Biden win than Brown, if it is one or the other. Brown is also polling ahead of Moreno in a couple of recent polls anyway. O course polling in Ohio, especially local and statewide polling, has left a lot to be desired.

At the end of the day, as long as you vote for Biden, it counts the same whether you do it out of glee or terror.
Brown definitely needs your help. If Democrats have any chance of holding the Senate, they have to hold Brown.

The village idiot may be worried about Biden talking.

the other one is rambling about Hannibal lector again tonight

He also said our airports are terrible (in a sentence that was about kids overdosing) that if you go to the Jefferson Memorial you will be raped amongst other weirdo things. Also said he will hire one of the Project2025 guys back to the WH...so much for distancing himself.

And then there is stuff like this: https://www.threads.net/@bidenharrishq/post/C9Lwvq3O0qb

Trump says he will round up millions of Latinos into mass detention camps as part of Project 2025 and then says it will be “larger” than a 1950s military-style operation called “Operation Wetback”

But Biden is old so guess which will get covered more. I notice the media types seem to be avoiding talking about his NATO speech except a few on MSNBC who said he did great. I wonder why...

Sellers: "It's extremely clear now that he did not see the President of the United States and to use visitor logs to simply say or deduce that someone has Parkinson's is not journalism. We spent more time talking about Joe Biden's age than we have Project 25, the Chevron ruling, the ruling on presidential immunity. And I think that's a disservice to voters in this country."

Find a way to watch the video...CNN lady is not happy.

The Dump challenged Joe to a second debate and a round of golf with a $1 mil stake. Joe should accept if Dumpster agrees to be hooked up to a lie detector that will be shown on a separate screen during the debate, with a $1 mil side bet that Dump tells more lies than Joe does. Seems like Joe would then be playing with house money on the golf bet, and he can't hurt himself any more than he already has on the debate side.

So handy noted the bots on social media are responding to AI commands. Reddit has also been pretty obvious. Since the debate, the millennial and gen z subreddits are filled with people saying don’t vote it’s worthless, keep politics out of the sub (yet they want to post pro-maga rants) and denying trump has any ties to project 2025. Its so obvious and I’m glad people are seeing it

Would someone tell pricks like Michael Bennett to stay the phuck away from the press...good lord the White Guy Brigade portion of the Dems is openly trying to lose. Saying in public that "The Dems are going to lose everything in November" is not how you goose people to vote. The Dems need more Crocketts and less feckless tools. Imagine if the players on your team said they had no chance to win with half the season to go.

On the bots, they have gotten better than in 2020 when it was blatantly obvious...but unless all Social Media decides to purge them the media is going to believe that the fake engagement is real. The "Influencers" are in on it too...getting paid a lot of cash to throw monkey wrenches in everything.

Oh and hey you guys remember this:

If you didn’t like what Bennett said you’re really going to be upset at Pelosi.

This was written recently by Michael Schellenberger on the Democrats being, well, undemocratic in picking their candidates.

Rank-and-file Democrats will soon realize that it was their own Party's war on populism that resulted in its self-destruction.

In 2016 and 2020, the Democratic Party, its donors, and the media took extraordinary actions to prevent a populist candidate, Bernie Sanders, from winning the nomination.

It’s now clear that this DNC strategy of overriding the demands of the Democratic base was catastrophic: President Joe Biden never faced real competition and is, like Hillary Clinton, a weak candidate.

Recall that in 2016, party elites acted through the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to coordinate with Hillary Clinton. The Clinton team was able to control the party’s finances and strategy before she became the candidate in order to prevent a head-to-head competition with Senator Bernie Sanders.

In 2020, DNC elites chose Biden as the only candidate who could defeat Sanders. They then forced former mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senator Amy Klobuchar out of the race. Those Party-compliant candidates then endorsed Biden at a pivotal moment, leading to Sanders’ defeat.

And then, this year, 2024, DNC elites prevented significant competition between Biden and potential primary challengers, despite Biden’s clear signs of aging and cognitive decline.

Democratic Party elites may still find a way to force Biden to step down. But doing so will only further that they, not the base, control the party. And the Party will be left with elites (e.g. Obama, Schumer, Pelosi) picking a candidate, or a highly divisive contest between them.

Either way, the media attacks on Biden are resulting in heavy and on-going damage to the Democratic brand and alarming Democratic members of Congress who think they could lose both chambers.

What, in the end, went wrong for America’s liberal Democratic and media establishment? The elites that control the media and the DNC undermined democracy within the Democratic Party. They did so out of an arrogant belief in their own political judgment as superior to that of the party’s base. They were too entitled, narcissistic, and hypnotized by their own self-righteous hatred of Trump to consider the unintended consequences of sidelining Sanders in 2016 and 2020 and of shielding Biden from competition in 2024...

You realize that none of us give a shit what Bari Weiss or her compatriots think, right? Taking political advice from a guy with a masters in anthropology whose career arc has been one of an environmentalist turned political activist with books like "San Fransicko" and reporting on UFO recoveries.

I can't believe the Democrats keep going for the un-democratic solution of giving their nomination to the person who won the most primary votes and thus won the most delegates.

Not to mention it is a complete line of bs not that facts matter to joe. Party elites forced Mayor Pete and Klobuchar out? Uh no...

What's sad is I do believe what The Times is saying, that some Dems want his PC tomorrow to go badly so he quits. That is how phucking stupid some of these clowns are. The media won't change either way they will keep moving the goalposts and ignoring Trump.

Apparently some in the party can't believe it either.

The Democrats are tanking Democracy...
