2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Why? Why do they give a crap? Because they're insecure little douchebags that have to make themselves feel special by dressing up and playing Yellowstone. We've all seen the type. In short, they're douchebags.

But this is one area where the cross section here is disconnected from the reality of the electorate. Why do we have to cater to overly proud, willfully ignorant suburbanites who bought the transparent lies that Dems were gonna melt down our guns, trans everyone's kids, defund the cops, let blacks riot in the streets, make us speak Spanish, and force all Americans to drive an EV? And now, after spending months b1tching and whining and playing little victims, they run around crowing about their side's "victory" like a farking hockey game. They think their Lord and Savior Donald will protect them while he and Musk and the rest of the oligarchs bend what's left of the middle class over their desks and go to town. They're in for a rude awakening.

We can't fix obstinate and stupid. Your fishing buddies are either gonna learn the hard way, or not at all. Perhaps you can be there to offer sympathy when they're out of a job a year or two from now and their precious F-150 and/or bass boat get repo'd. After the last 10 years, I'm out of fcks to give for two groups - Republicans and their voters, and ancient Dem elites like Schumer, Pelosi, and RBG who dig in and refuse to stand aside when it's time.

Who posted that chart showing Democrats fared better than most (if not all?) the ruling parties in the world’s largest election cycle in human history? I agree we need the Old Guard to move on. I’m not sure not showing up in 2026 will solve anything though. Obviously not showing up in 2024 is going to cost us. Dearly. But that’s a discussion for another time. As the liberal dude willingly living in the middle of bumf*ck Kentucky, none of us voting for Democrats on here are the problem. Remember that. For me, that includes Hovey voting for Biden twice. Not Drew though. F*ck him.

I posted that I believe. Incumbent parties got SMOKED worldwide this year. Democrats fared the best.

Vilified by whom? If it's that widespread there should be plenty of specific examples. People talking shit on a MDSTMB doesn't count since said victims don't visit here.

Everybody gets sh-t for being themselves. Inner city people, educated people, LGBTQs, jocks, suburbanites, nerds, feminists, environmentalists.

Why are the Rurals the one group we have to never allow to get their wittle feewies hurt? Why are they special? Because they're fragile and can't take it? My god, all the more reason.

Yeah it's not like rural America doesn't roll it's eyes at urban life. ffs I have relatives from Grand Forks and as far back as I can remember (early 70's) they would refer to people from MPLS/STP as "citiots".

Our elections in a nutshell...

Woman says a few years ago in a large college psychology lecture class, professor makes students a deal: for the final exam, he'll give everyone a 95%, BUT they must be unanimous in their decision to accept.

Of the 250 person lecture, 20 students hold out.

So he asks then the reason behind the vote, giving four choices. The twenty hold outs voted for "I don't want someone else to get the same grade as me even if they didn't study as much."

Professor says it's the most important example he could do all semester, and in the ten years he had previously done it, no other class accepted the 95% either.

Statically, only 10% of the class will get a 95% or higher, so those people were likely voting against their own self interests.

Typically you wouldn't want someone getting a grade as good as yours if they studied less if you believe your additional studies logically equates to a better grade. It's like when you're part of a group project and there's always one dick in the group that shows up half the time.

This is a reason to me that would be a burn on yourself:

I didn’t have to study as much as most people in school. I cannot imagine caring if someone studied more or less than me and how that correlated to their grade.
