2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

It just took me an hour and a half to vote for Harris because one of the machines shut down and it took forever to find someone to fix it. It sounds like in my town there was a huge turnout.

Did they push out the poll closing time? I hope they do that everywhere. I'm not sure what they can do about the bomb threats -- keep them open another 12 hours maybe?

And thank you for voting for Harris.

Harris underperfoming in rural NC counties with large black %.

That may be vote suppression, or it may be black flight from the reich towns. For example, Harris +2% in Wake Cty, which is huge and probably makes up for Dump's +2% in a bunch of tiny GOP counties.

Michael Steele predicts Dems will take MD Senate over Hogan. That is very good news.

You serious, Clark? I mean I know there were a couple polls showing Hogan close, but if the lean split amongst well-educated individuals was that significant as to put Maryland in play at the federal level, in a presidential year?

It didn’t impact people getting their ballots it was the scanning part that was an issue. There were a few people who gave up and walked out but didn’t really have an impact other than making people stand around.

MSNBC calls the FL abortion ballot measure dead. That's just so sad. I am so sorry for Democratic southern women. Just move to the Free World, ladies. Please improve the Acela Corridor demographic.

NBC made a good point about this:

The initiative got 57%. It needed 60% to pass.

In other states, the initiatives needed them to just get a majority. So the "loss" here is a bit misleading. In other cases, the initiatives got 55-58%, so todays performance has been in line with what we have seen in the last few years. FL just set the bar so damn high to pass.

That's what happened in Cambria Cty (Johnstown, PA) -- an issue with ballot scanning.

Eh I’ll take a step back from the ledge for a bit. Red counties are redder, blue counties are about the same. Difference being the blue counties grew in population.

Yeah, interesting trend. Biden cut in everywhere in 2020, while Kamala seems to be losing ground compared to that in rural and stable suburban, but gaining in urban or growing suburban.

Fark. Dem candidate for US house in Des Moines-centric district is only up 30k in Polk County. He's gonna lose. Same with Harris. We're looking at a repeat of 2022 in Iowa, where it went as red as Florida.
