2024 Election Thread

Last night, Dr. Mrs. & I were going through the Nightmare Scenario: Biden falls critically ill or dies in 2024. Some questions:

1. What are the circumstances where Kamala has to be the nominee? If Biden dies and she has already become President? Biden is ill and it is within a certain number of days to the election? Any time after the convention and her formal nomination as Veep?

2. What are the circumstances where it simply becomes a normal primary, with Kamala as a sitting Veep candidate? Outside a certain number of days before the convention?

3. Do the Dems tear themselves to shreds? Would bypassing Kamala significantly alienate women and/or blacks, or is Dump such an outrage that it doesn't matter?

4. How bad does it get for the Dems if this happens? Do we pull it together and take care of it quietly behind closed doors? Does the party fracture?

1..Any time after the convention. Easy.
2. super tuesday
3. 50:50. If the progressives and conservative factions of the party don't BOTH swallow their pride and quickly coalesce around a candidate, it's ugly. That late? Yeesh,
4. Bad. I think it's more likely the progressives pull a 2016 or the establishment Dems torpedo it. I just don't have faith in the leadership of either.

Congratulations to the people of Minnesota. You are American heroes today. If only we had had your strength and perseverance in the national and state Democratic parties for the last 42 years we could have prevented so much devastation.
 
And that was just in one session! Next year now is coming baby! The MNGOP was always a joke but their antics in the Trump era killed them in the voting centers.

That list is.. it just makes me so proud to be a Minnesotan. Just a tsunami of good.
 
So DeSantis' rollout of his "Twitter Spaces" announcement of his 2024 campaign went about as well as you'd expect anything involving Elon Musk on Twitter did.
