More positive polling on both Ohio Issue 1 and a reproductive rights amendment to the Ohio constitution. 58% of likely voters in a July poll favor passage of the amendment, which is similar to the one Michigan voters passed.

But since we can never have good things, hypocritical republicans in the legislature put a ballot initiative together to move the goal posts. Currently on 50% + one vote is required to amend the state's constitution, but when it became obvious the reproductive rights amendment would almost certainly garner that much support, the hypocrites in Columbus decided to call for a special election in August -- Issue 1 -- that would require a super majority of voters, 60%, to change the constitution. These same republicans just last year voted to do away with special elections because of the costs associated and hardly anyone voted in them.

The good news though is in this same poll, 57% of likely voters opposed the change to the law, and only 27% supported it. As always the key will be turnout.
 
If OH voters would get sick of the Nazis trying to end their democracy and hold them personally responsible for these votes, that would go a long way towards making this a non-issue in future.

These misogynists are like the racists in the 1950s. When the gig is up, it won't happen slowly, it will be a typhoon. We need to get to that day and make it impossible for anyone to run on this hatred. We need good Christians to put on their big girl Jesus panties and stop stabbing women in the belly with their idiocies.

My kuntry kuzins are in Gym's district. They are not sick of Nazis. There are a lot of folks like them throughout most of the state.

My kids are adopted from an Asian country. My aunt, also in Gym's district, was sh!t posting some serious anti-immigrant stuff on FB. I pointed out that her niece and nephew were immigrants. Her response? "Well, we think of them as white." That's what you're up against in OH.
