2023 SUNYAC Offseason..Pick-ups,subtractions,etc etc...

I think tonight poses a fair question:

Is Plattsburgh legit, or are they 5-0 because of the fact that they've played an easy schedule so far? (63rd out of 75 in SOS at the time of writing)

Last night they outshot Potsdam 42-19 and the Bears goalies made stops he didn't even know he was making. They also beat Genny 6-2. They may not be as strong as their record, but they are winning the games they are supposed to.

Elmira thumps Genny in Genny 6-2,genny only goals on the PP,should be an interesting tilt with Oswego come Friday in Utica......Go Lakers!!!

Man Elmira sure loves beating up SUNYAC teams on short rest... Someone get a Tuesday platty game on their schedule next year now

Elmira and Plattsburgh used to play each other every year in non-conference games. It was actually a really great rivalry. Sadly, within the last decade-15 years it was dropped due to travel.

Some of my fondest hockey memories came when I was growing up going to Elmira games with the rivalries with Plattsburgh, RIT, Mercyhurst, Canisius and Manhattanville.

If you remember part of the issue was the SUNYAC growing and the ECAC not allowing the SUNYAC teams to remain in both conferences. There were a few years where Plattsburgh dominated both conferences with Oswego right on their tail. There was also an issue where Plattsburgh was the top team in the ECAC but the finals were held in Elmira. Plattsburgh still won the final and left the trophy on the ice and skated into the locker room. Sorry, but I do not remember the year. Too many bad vibes to continue the home/home series each year.

Plattsburgh and Elmira kept the annual series going until 2011, a full 19 years after the 1992 ECAC-W breakup, so that wasn’t it. I recall Coach Emery being fully up-front on WIRY that it was a long trip for a single game and there were more reasonable options.

A very solid first half for Geneseo and first place in the SUNYAC. PP clicking at 35%, PK just short of 90%, 8 players with 10 or more points, and very strong goaltending, including a First Year phenom with excellent stick skills. I'll take it.

35%? They always have a great PP, but I hadn't noticed their stats this year. Wow.

I think we were around 20% last year. That's after a start where we had like 1 PP goal in the first several weeks of the season.

We have a lot of guys currently who can really shoot the puck, and the coaches are given them PP time. Very few shots taken from the points. Each group seems to be able to work their way closer to the net very efficiently. And FY Jacob Torgner, who just turned 20 in Nov., can make tape-to-tape passes from his goal line to the far blue line when we need to reset.

Last year, they needed to recover from losing a slew of players on a very, very potent PP. So, no surprise it started out slow.

YES watched it unreal game came down to a missed 2 pt conversion by North Central...Great job by the Dragons..

North Central didn't "miss" the conversion, Cortland made a huge stop on the play in a game where neither team made very many on defense after the 1st quarter. Ton of credit to Cortland who were pretty big underdogs in the game.

Agree with this assessment 100%. My granddaughter had a basketball game and I do stats for the coach so I dvr'd it and watched it when we got home from Willsboro. BTW, Chazy beat Willsboro 47-21 so it was a good sports night.
