2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

There could be league conflicts involving #14 St. Cloud. They are in the NCHC with #3 North Dakota and #4 Denver, thus would need to be swapped into another bracket. They would probably be slotted into the #15 position vs #2 BU in Springfield. Putting #12 UMass into Springfield could affect #9 Maine and #10 Providence, too. This could be resolved or further complicated pending this weeks results.

How about this: #3 North Dakota, #4 Denver, #13 Western Michigan, #14 St. Cloud.

That would be the most difficult decision ever for the committee. However the NCHC would also probably get 5 in like Hockey East with CC a 3 seed in that scenario so protecting number 1 would be ok but number 2 may be in for a jolt. I think the more difficult scenario would be CC dropping to a 4 with one of St Cloud and Western Michigan and the other out. I do believe the committee would match two NCHC rather than not protecting the overall number 1.

Need to go slightly off-topic here. I know there's a women's board but those folks seem pretty unhinged.

Since we all seem to agree that BC has the #1 seed locked up and nothing to play for this weekend, we can also agree that it's time to move on from Katie King Crowley on the women's side of things, right?

ya it’s time. She’s had more than enough time to right the ship and between all the transfers out, the inability to bring in high end talent outside of Taber, and the obvious mediocre results, it’s time to move on. I know York is/was a big proponent of hers but it was York’s time to move on before and it’s now time to find Crowley’s replacement.

Will be very interesting to see who they’d aim to replace her with. With it being an endowed salary, I would imagine it to be at the higher end of women’s college coaches. Could they go after someone already established and succeeding or seek out an assistant somewhere or dipping into the men’s side of things for a coach like some other schools have had success doing. I don’t think there are many women’s alumni out there coaching currently who they could look at

I know we’re all impressed with the football, baseball and women’s soccer hires so far from Blake James but he had a really rough history of women’s hockey coaching hires up in Maine. Maybe he’s learned from that and is better at identifying the right people but it is a slight worry of mine

After tonights results, looks like
Prov: BC Qpac Mich Bemidji
Springf: BU Minn Mass St C StSt
S.D.: NoDak Wisco CC RIT
St.L: Denv MSU Maine Prov
Swaps made to avoid NoDak/St C St and MSU/Mich 1st rd conflicts.

You should have just said you were counting this year as well. Protect your thoughts.

I’m really curious if Maine & Providence are both 3 seeds if they try to shoe horn Providence into the Providence regional. If they do, I’ll be convinced Providence has an inside person on the committee

Hockey East playoffs coming into focus now. BC will likely play the winner of Vermont at UConn. The only other possibilities are UMass Lowell or Merrimack if either of them knock off UNH or Northeastern. UNH will be 6th and Northeastern 7th so good chance to see NU-BU in the quarterfinals. Last place still at stake depending only if UML defeats UNH and BC defeats Merrimack tonight both in regulation. Any other way and Merrimack gets 10th. UMass-Amherst and Providence play in the quarterfinals as well.

OK... so hopefully everyone got out of there without injury. Smith 3 points again, luckily seems ok, looked like he got hurt there early in the game.

If Perreault isn't back next weekend then I'll officially be worried. No idea about Vote but we could really use him as well.

How about that goal from Powell?!

I was saying this LAST year. But I see no appetite for the BC administration to make this move. If you want women's sports to be treated just like men's then it's time to be honest and move on from this coach. She has let NU surpass them and now UConn. Can't win a big game to save her life. She is the female Len Ceglarski.

Perreault and Vote still out. Korec in net. No other changes.

I think Will Vote is in witness protection. He's been out for so long now I highly doubt we see him again this year. There has been nothing on his status. If I recall he took a knee to the back of the head against Merrimack and haven't seen him since.

Given the glut of Big Ten #2 seeds at the moment it is looking very likely that Providence will end up being:

1. BC
2. Maine or Quinnipiac
3. Michigan
4. CCHA rep

Very favorable first round game obviously but that potential QF game could be epic. Of course this is one of the years where the regional final falls on Easter Sunday. Easter weekend is bad enough but I believe the Providence final is at 4 PM Sunday. Ouch.

Brown says day-to-day for both but no known date. Also said NOT done for the season so they must be close. Thought I saw Vote practicing in one of the recent mic’d up videos. Idk.

I was just looking over the stats and noticed that Ryan Leonard is PLUS 32. That's a full plus 10 better than anyone else on BC. What an amazingly well-rounded all around player he is for a freshman. I'll say it again, he's a souped up version of Patrick Eaves.

Yukon on Saturday. Looks like it has been close(ish) to selling out for a while now so should be a good atmosphere with limited amounts of bozos from Storrs. I think saw in a BC email that students get in for free and they are back from break, which is rare that it lines up like this so you'd like to think they go big for this one and fill the place. Pretty rare opportunity. Anyone know if Perreault is practicing?

BCBlogger said both him and Vote are skating in practice earlier this week but not as regulars. I’d be surprised to either of them play Saturday
