2022 Frozen Four

OK, I had made an equally embarrassing miscalculation in my geography, misplacing a river I drive across and all around daily in the effort to make a point. Busted. And I'm usually a geography star. But the point is still to be made, despite me playing Paul Bunyan and rearranging the Mississippi.

We all knew what your point was. But we couldn't resist busting on you. :-)

The rink is at least a bit rowdy which is cool. I’m enjoying seeing the rink, but get your point.

back at umd next year.

I mean doesn't the Mississippi curve such that the headwaters is more to the west, middle of the state? Up there at least, it isn't the same clearly defined north-south border it is once you get to Iowa, etc.
You're right that it curves around, but all of that curving happens considerably west of Lake Superior. If it didn't then the Mississippi would empty into the Lake and that would be it.

But to take my own advice, I should stay focused on the game at hand. OSU has allowed the first goal in four straight postseason games, and has rallied to take the lead in all of them. How do the teams look?

I thought Quinnipiac was pretty good. But then, Clarkson brought in a lot of fans making it to the final game.

EDIT: I looked it up on collegehockeystats.net. Attendance is listed at 3573, a sellout. (Though, I don't remember all the seats being filled. But I do remember a good crowd.)

The first time at Erie is listed at 3956.

The last time in NH was 3211.

In comparison, the last time it was in MN when it was an all eastern final, attendance was 2922.

BTW, 3016 when it was in St. Louis.

The Yale penalties totally changed the momentum. Yale weathering the storm well enough, giving up only two, but it is clearly a storm.

It’s funny because I’m not sure a couple of the penalties would have been called in the first game.

Lasting images of the 2nd:
Yale so loose and loving it in the tunnel pre start to the period. OSU a little more serious.

With OSU down 1-0 camera catches Muzerall on the bench rallying her crew to “wake up” I think.

Opportunity on the PP, and 2 quick highlight reel goals follow. Buckeyes looking awake.

An absolute buzzing OSU at the end of the 2nd period....although it was sustained zone pressure, Yale hanging on is reminiscent of Soderberg’s save that kept the deficit to 1 in the first game, at the end of the 2nd.

The Westwood One guy kept talking about Cinderella Yale; was it really a Cinderella team? I get that they haven't been here before, but they finished 2nd in the ECAC in both the regular season and tournament. UMD was fourth in the league in the WCHA, and didn't make the final, and I don't think they're Cinderella. Maybe I've lost all perspective. But they also keep saying that this is the first FF w/o UW or UM, and they didn't make the very first one -- but UMD did.

AJ talking about how how Ohio State has been 'dominant' all year. Really? 2nd in the WCHA, an inch away from losing to Minn in the WCHA tournament, an inch away from losing to Quinnipiac. etc.

They might very well win Saturday; they might not. But c'mon, AJ. You're not required to talk in cliches.

The wonderful candor of youth. Asked between periods if she enjoyed being part of a rejuvenated Yale program, Vanstone said, yeah, team now playing with a lot of heart, as opposed to her freshman year when the coaches “checked out.” No spin there.

I liked the NESN game trio. Matvick called, AJ commented (sure, some clich-shay [keyboard issue], but better than Olympics), and Knight analyzed, all pretty seamlessly. No “color” nonsense. An ECAC fan has to wait until March 18[SUP]th[/SUP] to get this kind of coverage.

What an embarrassingly low turnout for Frozen Four games! I've never seen a FF game east of the Mississippi well attended. That includes St Charles, MO, which was a drive from MSP, but the crappy arena there was mostly full. What's wrong with the Eastern fans? Even their home regular-season numbers aren't that good. Even Northeastern at 4th averages under 600 fans/game, after WI, MN, and UMD.

Getting to and from State College is a pain in the ***.
