2022 Frozen Four

Bolding at Yale is the AHCA Division I Women’s Coach of the Year Award with his opposing coach for tomorrow Nadine Muzerall as the runner-up.

Bolding becomes the first coach to win both the DIII and DI Coach of the Year Awards from the AHCA.

Game day!

games are onESPN+, and the tsn app in Canada.
not sure about the first game, but OSU’s site says Clay Matvick (sp), AJ Mleczko and Hilary Knight will be the broadcast team.

These should be amazing games. UMD NU feels like a toss up, OSU should beat Yale; emphasis on should.

Is it 330 yet?

UMD NU feels like a toss up,
This game is intriguing. After Northeastern lost to UW in OT in the championship, you could tell that the Huskies had something extra to prove in this year's rematch with the Badgers. Now in the semi, NU plays a team that it knocked out in the last year's semi in OT. Maybe this time, the Huskies' opponent is the team that feels it has something to prove.

As when NU met UW, it is a matchup of marquee top lines, although the first line for the Badgers had been misfiring to an extent for much of the second half. From what I've seen, the Hughes line is as good as anyone in making teams pay for mistakes. They aren't a group that will send shot after shot wide of a partially open net. The Huskies have an advantage on the blue line, and definitely in terms of being able to create offense from the back. They just need their offensive D to stay home, particularly when UMD's top line is out there.

My impression/recollection from last year is that Northeastern was caught by surprise with the speed that UMD played with, and that allowed Duluth to get out to their lead. But as the game progressed, Northeastern got 'sped up' to the tempo, and managed to 'win' the second half to get to OT. No such 'speed' disadvantage when they played Wisconsin two days later. And no such WCHA speed advantage last week for Wisconsin. So I'm guessing that Northeastern won't be caught by surprise, like they were last year. But what do I know?

Even with no Wisconsin team playing, as Badger Bob would say, it's a great day for hockey. Looking forward to it.

0-0 after 1. Some great individual plays, a couple grade A chances missed by both teams. UMD with the better start but NU looking alive at the end of the period.

Hilary Knight between the benches at ice level . Fun!

Westwood One has free audio, so I'm listening to that while I work.

I spent the $7. And then in between period I looked for a 'pirate' re-stream (like you can often find for MLB and NFL games) of the Canadian stream, but nothing so far.

It would also be nice if the stream would stop dropping out... like while the first goal was being scored!

With 4 left in the second, Huskies look pretty comfortable…..if they can maintain the possession game, confident play using the soft passes, and Frankel seems to be on her game…Huskies winning thre race to the puck…looks like Frankel might be in Bulldogs heads…

1-0 NU after 2. NU’s pp was uninspiring but the rest of the period they looked great. UMD missed on a mini break away...need to bury one of these chances.

the play at the end of the 2nd referenced above was fantastic from both teams!

rink looks great obviously, crowd looks sparse but we’ll see what the numbers are. Love the roar zone posters.

Now that ARM has taught me the correct name for UMD, Bemidji State et al I notice the industry wide butchering (mixed in with honest league colloquialisms) I don’t think I can complain if Ohio State is referred to as literally Indiana next game.

I don't know what they said on the radio, but I bet it didn't do justice to that save by Soderberg. WOW!!

World class save for sure especially considering a goal would’ve put NU up 2-0. Any info on Soderberg’s plans next year?I believe UMD is bringing in a top Canadian goalie next year…should be interesting!

Having the FF in a CHA rink (?)doesn’t help with the optics at all….2nd period shots 14-4…..it’s Northeastern’s to lose!

Have to play in the locations that bid to host. We've had FFs hosted by Lindenwood and Mercyhurst. Is Quinnipiac the only ECAC host that we've had?

The building that Lindenwood used in St Charles, Mo was ... not good. I have no doubt Pegula is better.
