This is so much like the Beatles arguments. I'm not hatin', I'm just making fun of the groupies. Typically the groupies know it's in fun and make fun back (c.f. Flyover vs Andy Bernard). But when you find the guy who can't take it in fun, well sir, now you've found yourself a rube, and they are just undeniably fun to spin up.

The best part is that Finland has been getting beat up all tournament. They entered this game needing a win and to overcome goal differential to be able to play a group B team in the quarters. They come out, wearing masks, and kick their ass 5-0 to take the tiebreaker.

Still, there is something chilling about the Chinese government using Gu as a PR weapon. China is facing increasing and deserved pressure for its atrocious human-rights record, and squelching of political dissent and religious freedom, and it is deploying an 18-year-old girl from San Francisco as a shield.

Chinese law prohibits dual citizenship, and this has led to speculation about whether Gu surrendered her U.S. passport to compete for China. Twice, just after the competition, reporters asked her about it. Gu was asked the same question again multiple times in her press conference. Each time, her answers seemed like they were spit out of a government computer program. I kept looking to see if she pushed a button on her wrist before she spoke.

There’s reports that the medal ceremony for the Team Figure Skating has been delayed because an issue with the Totally Not Russia team and a doping issue from prior to the games (because there’s no way the Chinese are going to allow a positive test for Russia at the games).

Get your popcorn because this is about to get good. Online discussion is centered around that the athlete in question is the 15 year old female skater and that it wasn’t a PED but a diuretic which can be used as a masking agent.
