Weird. I haven't seen "Peking" since the 80s.
Same, I thought that was d/c'd 30-40 years ago when they changed how Mandarin and Cantonese are Romanized.

Given the last min change in who is playing, I didn't expect the US to win their group. Not bad.
I just noticed something odd thanks to some international athletes I follow on Instagram.
There is a division on social media in referencing the Olympic games. Chinese media and "western" media tag the games as #Beijing2022.
Finland, Dutch, Germany, and Estonia athletes/media tag the games as #Peking2022.
And there isn't any overlap where both tags are used in the same post.

Oh hi there Galina Arsenkina. What's it been, about four years?
The same last minute change applied to the Canadians as well. And last minute change or not, there was no way Germany or China were going to win the group. So, one of the North American teams with a last minute change were going to win the group. Ergo, not a surprise.
Dude, the US is playing 15 college kids and started a 19 year old in net for two games. The same last minute change applied to the Canadians as well. IOC says no medal ceremony will take place if Valieva finishes in the top three of the remaining events, including team events.

Sounds like the IOC is actually, for once, trying to do the right thing and the CAS and WADA is completely fucking them over. What kind of message is that??? "You can compete, but if you win, everyone loses"?
Let alone the idea of doping being actually bad thing.
Not that I was planning on watching any more skating, but I'm not sure how much more of this farce overall I want to watch.
