2022 Beijing Olympics: Don't Mention the Slaves

Probably forbid them from competing as the Russian Olympic Committee, and they'll just have to go with something like Russians "R" Us.

Mat Robinson scored the first goal for Canada and becomes the first player from UAA to score in the Olympics.
 
After the first five minutes I was wondering if going all-in on the young guns was a good idea. Canada came out and popped ‘em in the mouth early, but they took it well and bounced back.

Germany only beat China 3-2, so right now I’m optimistic they take Group A. They’re up 4 on GD on Finland, so there’s a great chance to take the 1 seed as well.

USA Hockey has seemed to develop the identity of “speed kills”. It’s what they want at the WJC and want they went for here. And it does seem to be working.
 
Looks like for the US Men to not get a bye to the Quarterfinals they'd have to lose to Germany by at least 5-6 goals. Sweden (+4) and Finland (+6) are both on six but have to play each other and Denmark is at 6 points but is at +1 GD.

The only thing that may work in China’s favor tomorrow is Canada will know how many goals they need coming in, so Canada doesn’t necessarily need to score infinity goals to get that lone 2nd place bye.
 
I just noticed something odd thanks to some international athletes I follow on Instagram.

There is a division on social media in referencing the Olympic games. Chinese media and "western" media tag the games as #Beijing2022.

Finland, Dutch, Germany, and Estonia athletes/media tag the games as #Peking2022.

And there isn't any overlap where both tags are used in the same post.
