Re: 2020 NCAA Hockey Tournament - What If: A Simulation of the 2019-2020 Postseason

No,no,no!! You speeled it wrong! It is PROVICID!!!

And from the ECAC...

ECAC Quarterfinals

Harvard @ RPI - Game 2:
The Crimson and the Engineers met on the ice today in game 2 of this series. RPI got an early jump in this one, as Mike Gornall scored from the slot. Harvard answered midway through the first period on Jack Drury's goal, knotting the score at 1-1. The Crimson took their first lead of the game in the waning minutes of the first stanza, when Drury potted his second goal. RPI answered midway through the second period, when Patrick Polino's slapper deflected off a Harvard defensemen in front of the net and beat goalie Mitchell Gibson. The Engineers then regained the lead early in the third period as Will Reilly scored on the powerplay. Reilly nearly gave RPI a two-goal lead when his slapshot from the point rang off the crossbar. Ultimately, it would not have been needed, as RPI's Owen Savory kept the Crimson off the scoreboard the way, and RPI advanced to the ECAC Semifinals with a 3-2 victory.

Wooo!!!! Onto Lake Placid!!! Watch out Wiseguys.

So the Hockey East results came in, and I posted the summaries, but then apparently it ran into some issues and didn't show up here. I'll post the results here shortly.

Feeling for you guys!!! What could have been for the Black Bears...Isn't this crazy? How even these simulated games (and thanks for these, btw) can make you feel. :(

Had the tournament gone ahead using the final pairwise rankings, Maine would have gotten in ahead of Quinnipiac by .0001 RPI. Just like Duluth...

And now it's on to the Garden and lets win there.

Somehow this made me smile even in a make believe pretend world. So now I have to ask, what is this simulation based on? Is it merely hard statistics? Are there points for grit? A bonus for getting to hard ice? Truculence? How the heck does it make the prediction?? Is there operator nuance?

Northeastern @ Massachusetts - Game 2:

Dammit. I was afraid of this going into the weekend. Northeastern May very well be the best 7th seed in Hockey East history. Who was in net for UMass?

Probably Lindberg since Murray played game 1. I bet Tyler Madden returns tomorrow if he didn't return tonight.
