Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers VII: Bon Voyage Beto

Passing laws to help colored and poor folks in the 60’s was running center?!?! :p

LBJ ran so far left he was personally responsible for the long term exodus of traditional Dems to the R party (which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing)

No, he governed Left, which is the whole point of the distinction. Obama ran as Hopey Changey but governed as a centrist.

Undecided centrists are just people who aren’t fully on board with voting for nazis. They have some reservations.

Re: 2020 Democratic Challengers VII: Bon Voyage Beto

LBJ ran in 64 as continued enactment of kennedy’s Lib policies.

JFK was not a liberal. His foreign policy was more hawkish than Eisenhower and his fear of communism was legendary. He cut the top marginal tax rate by more than Reagan did.

We remember JFK as a liberal darling because Bobby was a liberal (and the brains of the outfit) and because he was murdered and is therefore a Democratic Saint. But he was backpeddling from FDR as fast as his shapely legs could go. It was LBJ himself who enacted the great liberal policies of the 60s but he was destroyed by Vietnam.
