2019-20 D1 Scores

Re: 2019-20 D1 Scores

3-1 final score in Madison.
After a major penalty was called against Ohio State's Lisa Bruno the Badgers had 3:54 of power play time until the end of regulation, but could not take advantage. Great job by the Buckeyes in killing it off.

Re: 2019-20 D1 Scores

Final scores:

Clarkson 2, Princeton 1
St. Lawrence 3, Quinnipiac 2
Ohio State 3, Wisconsin 1 (sorry, Tim - couldn't resist)

I got no sense of urgency from the Badgers over the last ten minutes of the game. Outside of the first ten minutes of the game and the five minute power play to open the second, Ohio State generated very little offense, but they didn't really have to. Wisconsin never seemed like they were going to score even handed.

Hey, UW had chances and didn't convert. I have thoughts over in the UW thread, perhaps those who watched on Flo can shed some light on some things, often times when you are at the game you don't get the best perspective on the key plays.

Roque's physical play was a detriment to WisconSIN today. The stream had multiple replays of the play which you think is bogus because MJ whined...Interesting, as the Wisconsin announcers pretty much knew when they reviewed it, it was going to be 5 minutes. And you could say that the Ohio State call late in the third period was boarding but it really was a check from behind that also had some danger to it. Properly called in the context of how this game was officiated.

Wow. St Cloud stuns BSU in OT and Kato/UMD tie.

An unbelievable goaltending performance by Polusny to beat the Beavers. Over 49 saves and on some great scoring chances. Beavers dominated but couldn’t get it past her. And SCSU’s winning goal was a great laser of a shot. Man, can the goaltenders make the WCHA a tough conference!

Re: 2019-20 D1 Scores

After a period, it's OSU 1, Wisconsin 0. Again, the Bashers have dominated puck possession, but have done very little with it. The Buckeyes are collapsing down low, and Wisconsin can't solve the puzzle. At the other end, Skaggs faked Bowlby out of her skates and put the puck through Campbell's five hole. She really ought to have made that save.

And Curl snipes it in.
The Buckeyes were out of gas and were running on fumes at the end.

Going to 3 on 3...

Not sure what OSU’s line was thinking when they got possession in 3 v 3. They seemed reluctant to take the puck up the ice when they had the chance and it cost them in the end. Good game, though, and an outstanding goaltending performance by OSU.

It felt like their goal was to get it to the shootout, thinking (correctly) that Wisconsin had a big advantage 3-on-3. I'm just not sure that refusing to cross the red line was the best way to survive the 3-on-3.

Re: 2019-20 D1 Scores

Braaendli stops Shirley on a penalty shot to keep the score 1-0.

I say it every time: there is no 'penalty' to a penalty shot.

All they do is give you back the opportunity you had taken away. "We caught you robbing a bank, and as a penalty, we're going to make you give the money back."

It should be that you get the shot: if you score, that's it, play on; if you don't score, you get a two-minute power-play as the penalty.

As it is now, given the choice, I'll take the power-play and forget about the 'penalty shot'.
