My experience has been that the locals love to see American tourists because we have money.
Jeezuz settle down. Athletes of every nationality get ugly and have you actually traveled internationally? The ugly American thing is overblown.
I will preface this conversation by admitting a bias, I loathe the members of the USWNT, mainly for their ridiculous (IMO) demands they ask in their negotiations and how they handle that in the media.Or Hope really is bat-sh* crazy. I am leaning towards this direction.
I hope to God they do listen.
What's wrong with actually not acting like the stereotypical ugly American? What's wrong with actually acting like decent international citizens?
There is a time and place for everything. For the athletes themselves, this is not the time and place to look like rich, arrogant Americans complaining about the facilities and accommodations. Let others at other times deal with the IOC and their insane ways.
P.S. I get what your saying, and I don't necessarily disagree with it. But, I would like to see Americans, for once, act in a civilized non-whiny manner.
What a load of ****. The whole thing is a disaster and your wish is the US athletes are complicit in covering it up, so it can happen again? That is some pretty dark, and ****ty line of thinking.

I agree. Athletes who are putting themselves at risk (even half the dam country is saying it's hell) should speak up about the sh*storm that these Olympics are.
Like I said, I didn't necessarily disagree with him.
Certainly, if the sh*tstorm hits, they definitely should speak out like the absurd open water event conditions. But, complaining about facilities or accommodations will make them come across as petty. There is a difference.

No, no...they're just being petty...When the Olympic Village has exposed wiring and water flowing down the walls when toilets are flushed when athletes are set to move in, it should be complained about.

A Russian diplomat killed a would be robber in Rio.
Now that's the sh*tstorm that needs to be exposed.
