Before the Games US soccer GK Hope Solo expressed concerns about the Zika Virus. Being a female who plans to start a family, a disease like Zika that strikes females and causes birth defects has to be a concern. I can't see how it wouldn't be.
At tonight's prelim the Brazilian fans greeted her with a chorus of boos anyway, and kept cascading her every time she touched the ball. How dare she speak her mind in public?!
Meanwhile the hoops team is not taking chances with the water or living conditions in the athlete village. Team USA has chartered a cruise ship to house the team during the Games.

I'm well aware of her past. However the Brazilian fans aren't attacking her for domestic violence or her relationship status. They are going after her for speaking out publicly about Zika. They are hoping other athletes get the message and stay silent.
As was asked before, just how much play will all this get on NBCIOC? I expect this will be another way European broadcasters separate themselves from their inferior American counterparts.

That's a hell of a way to set the story up, Priceless. She straight up trolled things on social media and people reacted. Even if the trolling made a legitimate point in a roundabout way, it's going to garner a reaction. Which is exactly what it did, which should surprise no one but the most myopic of those unfortunately bounding about us. To act all indignant about it is ****ing laughable. This is 2016. You slap crap up on social media, you should **** well know what might happen. To act as if she's some sort of victim here is ridiculous.

I don't follow her social media that closely but I do recall seeing a picture she tweeted where she was basically wearing a mosquito net. Considering the safety guidelines for dealing with Zika that hardly seems like trolling.

She knew what she was doing and she does not care if she is booed. As she said after the game, she'd rather have that than silence. I hope more athletes do it...then just maybe NBC won't ignore the issues and act like it's all hunky dory in Rio.

1) it was over a picture
2) she already apologized to the oversensitive people of Rio
3) they adored her before this picture fracas
4) cut a hole in a box
It will all blow over once the Olympics start for real tomorrow.

Is bingo really the best game for a one-off event like an attack? Unless you have different squares for bits and pieces of the attack, it seems like a "clue" based game might be better. Pick the venue, the weapon and the victims.
Although, I'm curious if someone is relying on ISIS to use robot bees to attack the Jamaican delegation at the rowing venue.
