"Stripling" is a great name for a rookie. It looks like he had control issues: 42 of those 100 pitches were balls. I'd still have left him in, though. Bumpus Jones needs company.

It look like he doesn't know how to put on a belt, not that the belt failed.

That's what I was thinking. His belt didn't explode, it ironically wasn't pulled tight enough.

Eat, Pablo! Whoever heard of a thin Santa Claus!

No, not that it wasn't pulled tight, just that he didn't buckle it correctly. The tine (don't know the names for the various portions of the belt) that sticks through the hole was under the loop, like something shifted out of place before he dressed, then he couldn't or wouldn't spend the time to correct the issue and simply hoped for the best rather than the bust.

That happens when a belt is too loose. On the first "in" pull the little doo-hickey slides out of the hole, then on the next "out" push the doo-hickey misses the hole, and you don't have a belt anymore, at best you have a tie that's only held on by the friction between the buckle and the belt. The first funky side to side motion (like, say, a wild swing) and the belt drops completely.

Maybe he couldn't see the belt?

If that's the case, his equipment manager's going to want to look into getting a belt like those we have on our breezers (or hockey pants, for you uncivilized sorts out there).

The Twins are on 88 Orioles watch as they are a third of the way to the record.

Go team go!

Local radio guys were in complete despair today, calling for Brunansky's head and telling the outfielders that they need to toughen up and ditch the ski masks.

The Braves have started 0-7 for the first time since 1988.

Go Barves!!

Today the Twins could go 0-8, if they play their cards right. They haven't been 0-7 since moving to Minnesota. Back in their Washington Senators days, they started one season 0-23. It was sometime in the 40s, I think.
