Off-season: Mets trade Niese to Pirates, Niese rips Mets going out the door.

2016: Mets trade for Niese from Pirates.

Awkward.

Also, this can't happen very much. Team trades X for Y and Z. 4 months later team then trades Y for X. Effective result: team picked up Z for free!

Alex Rodriguez, Brian Cashman, and Joe Girardi are slated to have a press conference of some kind at 11 Sunday am. No specifics that I've seen, but interesting given the latest "no idea when he'll play next" comments.

MLB TV is speculating that this is some sort of retirement announcement. Not a release.

Apparently his teammates have been informed that their attendance is mandatory.

He will be released after Friday's game and sign as an adviser for the Yankees through 2017.

Probably the best path forward for both parties. He'll be great as an instructor every spring, and is obviously a great baseball mind as an advisor.

As long as he starts every teaching moment with "Do as I say, not as I do" he'll be great!

The Rangers have a press conference tomorrow, per MLB Radio.

Looks like Prince Fielder's career could be over.

EDIT: Both Prince and Cecil have 319 career homers.

I honestly don't see an MLB team signing him. He'll end up in an independent league as a sideshow. I know Jordan developed and was showing sizable progress in his season, but Timmay ain't MJ...
