2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

I honestly don't see an MLB team signing him. He'll end up in an independent league as a sideshow. I know Jordan developed and was showing sizable progress in his season, but Timmay ain't MJ...

To be fair, and not fanboi-ing it, Tebow was very close to being drafted out of high school for baseball. Scared away any teams once he focused on football HS Senior year.

Gary Sheffield has supposedly been around his training for this 2nd coming, and had good things to say.

Guess we'll see what happens, but I'm also thinking it won't be the Golden brick road.

As I understand it, he hasn't played since 2005. That's 11 seasons. No chance on him going anywhere with this.

He'll make MJ look like Rod Carew. Relatively speaking, guys throw quite a bit harder than they did 11 years ago.

The Rangers have a press conference tomorrow, per MLB Radio.

Looks like Prince Fielder's career could be over.

EDIT: Both Prince and Cecil have 319 career homers.

boy, and I thought A-Rod's press conference was tough to watch. This is gonna be awful. :(

Make it 9 in a row for the Cubs and 30 games over .500. Could this be the year? I sure hope so since the Twins were out of it after 2 weeks into the season.

You might need the afternoon off.

Just watched it. Very dusty in here. What a terrible way to end a career. He had some good AL years left. He was an absolute joy to watch, and still one of my favorite players ever. I saw him play for the first time in Class A Beloit, and he cranked a home run. Some great memories in Milwaukee, and I feel lucky that we got his best years.

How is it the Yankees have managed to make A-Rod a sympathetic figure? It may be the great accomplishment of his career. :p

Girardi on Sunday: If A-Rod wants to play every game this week, we'll find a way to get him in there
Girardi later in the week: I have to put the best lineup I can out there, and that doesn't include him

???

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

I'm starting to wonder if he's going to play elsewhere after today. Maybe this isn't it for him...

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

I'm going to my first Twins game in a few years tonight. The radio guys were saying that last night's game may have had roughly 2,000 in attendance. It makes me wonder if they'll be checking tickets or simply ushering people in from the streets with bullhorns and carnie ringmasters.

Al, from Miami, doubles in a runner from 1st in his first AB of his final game in pinstripes. Opposite field gapper.

I don't understand. The boxscores from both games said there were around 25,000 there. Do you mean those boxscore figures on attendance are made up??? Or were there just 23,000 idiots who decided to spend money on tickets that had no intention of using???

Mostly season ticket holders who've given up on the team since some time in May, and then some bad weather was in the forecast keeping other single-game ticket holders from deciding to use their tickets.

Re: 2016 MLB Season - Curses, foiled again?

Adrian Beltre is going to be next to 3,000. With his last hit, he's now at 2,892. With any kind of luck and health this year he's going to end this year somewhere around 2,930-2,940. This means that by the All Star break next year, he's going to hit 3,000.

And then all eyes turn to Pujols. He's going to cross 2,800 this year, too. Miguel Cabrera will be next after him, but that's going to be a few years yet. He might get to 2,500 this year.

Beltre in 2017, Pujols in 2018, Miggy in 2019. And that's going to be it for about a decade, with the exception of maybe Cano, but even he's still 5 years away. There's NOBODY else on the radar right now.

Last night, the Cubs played "Smack My B-tch Up" after Aroldis Chapman left the game.

Today, the Cubs fired their stadium DJ.

Playing anything from Prodigy in the first place is a fireable offense, let alone THAT.
